Three miners have suffered burns at Mopani Copper Mine-MCM-Nkana division in Kitwe following an accident.
The accident happened when the three electrical artisans were working on a faulty substation at the plant at around 19 hours on Thursday.
Kitwe District Commissioner Chanda Kabwe has confirmed the accident at Mopani in an interview with ZNBC News in Kitwe.
Mr. Kabwe says preliminary investigations by the Mine Safety Department indicate that the accident was caused by human error.
He said the three injured miners are currently receiving medical attention at Wusakile Mine Hospital in Kitwe.
Mr. Kabwe has regretted the rise in mine accidents at Mopani adding that the latest accident could have been avoided if safety practices were observed.
Mopani Copper Mines Spokesperson Cephas Sinyangwe has promised to give a detailed report on the latest accident at the mine.

It seems Mopani will make an insurance company insolvent. A barrage of employers liability and personal accident claims will flood Mopani and its insurance company. I can suggest a very good claim agency to get good compensation for the injured miners for the injury, pain and trauma they have gone through. The trauma of near-death will last for many years to come. Claim amount for 284 miners and 3 miners will run into billions. Try Triple EMU Claim Agency for a quick and good settlement.

Let Mopani not run away for it mistake. Let the government send independent safety expert to investigate the cause of the accidents. Thy shouldn’t rush to mention that it was human error which caused the accident. We shall not get that information from in house investigation safety expert report.

This is insane not acceptable. Mopani should have opened their eyes & put up best safety measure after the previous accident. I think Chinese company’s are even better .

We need to send independent investigation team from the mines safety department. you can not have the sinner audit himself nor give cause of accident.
Some senior person must have ensured safety of his workers. I wish quick recovery of the victims of the accidents so they can tell the truth during the investigation on what happened.

Forcing workers to immediately attend to a problem to the extent of not allowing them to wear safety gadgets is criminal action of the employer. Mopani shall be prosecuted and made an example of them.
