A FORMER diplomat has declined to commence his defence in a prostitution procurement case before being availed a court statement in which one of the five girls that were allegedly engaged in the vice explains how this was done.
Friday Nkamba, who served as first political secretary at the Zambian Embassy in Berlin from 1994 to 2002, is in this matter charged with one count of procuring girls for prostitution contrary to the Laws of Zambia. Nkamba, of Emmasdale Township in Lusaka, is alleged to have between January 1, 2012 and October 29, 2013, procured five girls to become common prostitutes and housed them at his premises.
Nkamba, who is being represented by Lusaka lawyer Keith Mweemba, denied the charge but magistrate William Banda had found him with a case to answer last year. Magistrate Banda had ordered Nkamba to open up his defence last week but he instead applied that he should first be shown one of the statements adduced by one of the girls in court in order for him to effectively defend himself. He submitted that his preliminary application was intended to accord him a fair trial and for him to adequately prepare his defence.
However, the prosecution objected to Nkamba’s application, saying it was not the duty of the defence to tell the State which witnesses’ evidence should be availed back to them for review. The prosecution argued that it had called necessary witnesses whom it thought were necessary to the proceedings and that the court should, therefore, not entertain the defence’s application at that stage.
Magistrate Banda in his ruling dismissed Nkamba’s application and he ordered that he should commence his defence on September 14, the date to which the matter was adjourned.

This is what poverty does. This man felt the heat of the PF poverty and was forced due to desperation to enter such illegal activity. Alot has been happening since septemeber 2011. Alot of abominations such that one would think we have no leadership in the country. We say vote UPND to ensure a a respectable lifestyle. We thank you and happy sabbath to all those that it applies to

Why is it that even things that are not political have to be likened to the political affairs of the country. Some comments are senseless to say the list. Like ONYX Power said, its all about immorality and not ones political affiliation. This used to happen in UNIP, in MMD, now in PF and it will continue happening even during the reign of whoever is going to in the next elections. Such a pity ba Diplomat, wanted to become a PIMP elo fyakana ukubomba……
