The turmoil in the mining sector is not slowing down with Glencore announcing that it will suspend production in mining activities in Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo for 18 months.
Glencore accounts for 26% of Copper production in the country at its Mopani plant with the announcement signalling further job losses.
There is already trouble following the China Non Ferrous Mining Corporation putting its Baluba Mine on care and maintenance shutting out more than 1, 600 miners out of employment.
Konkola Copper Mines has also been flirting with similar machinations with jobs on the line after 133 miners were recently sent packing amidst the brewing chaos in the mining sector.
The mines have been hit hard recently with looming 30% power slow down supply following the shortage of power.

Its official Mine’s Baluba Underground operation has been closed. More are closing, fncking ‘one lady miner’ wont save the 1600 jobs on the line… soon she will be a jobless harlot.

Let those miners continue singing Ifintu Ni Lungu!… we are tired of talking. When you have a leader without a vision these are the inevitable. Just fasten your belts, worse is still coming. Do you see worry in Edgar’s body language or speech? Nope! He smiles for the cameras like all is so well in Zambia (of course him is fine, being fed and flown around)

To say Lungu drinks Jamasoni, so Hakainde will bring doola down! That is as preposterous as it is childish. (utusungu uto yewe)

Good for you and madam. Yes poverty is visible even from heaven and hell. That is why some of US are always striving to make a difference in people. The answer to Zambia lies in educating our citizens that solutions are with ourselves and not politicians. HH and Lungu are both chasing for jobs. By the way, can you arrange for me the shipping of some cargo from there? Someone in Anniston, Alabama is selling some merchandise I want but does not ship to Zambia. You may help me as a diasporain. (That is nga teti munsesheshe kaCash kamu visible poverty)!!
