Education PS Calls For Patience On Teacher Recruitment

MINISTRY of Education permanent secretary Chishimba Nkosha has called for patience among unemployed teachers as his ministry is working at finalising the recruitment process.

Unemployed teachers in most parts of the country have expressed anxiety over the delays to release names of successful applicants for the teacher recruitment exercise.
But in an interview, Nkosha called for patience among the applicants, saying the names would be released any time soon once the selection process was completed.

“We don’t want to rush into doing things. We want this whole process to be fair and transparent, without any mistakes. If you rush, you end up making a lot of mistakes and that is what we are trying to avoid,” he said. “We have heard of some people saying we don’t have money to recruit teachers; that is not correct. People were applying through district board secretaries; so after August 21st, people started compiling those lists and we have given them selection guidelines. So, they are doing the shortlisting; that is how far we have gone. After doing the shortlisting, we shall invite them to come to Lusaka and that is how transparent the exercise is.”

Nkosha said the process was slowly coming to an end and that his ministry could not afford to lose an opportunity of employing 5,000 teachers when the country needed more manpower in the schools.

“Once they come to Lusaka, they will show us how transparent their selections were; they will also show us the lists of qualified candidates and their qualifications and their qualifications will be verified by various examining officers and the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) will also be there to look at the papers and the people they have selected, whether they qualified or not. Even those who have not been selected, they will also tell us why they have not selected them,” said Nkosha.

“It is a process which is slowly coming to an end. People should just be patient. They will be employed before the end of this year. Once you have been give treasury authority to employ teachers, we can’t miss that chance of employing 5,000 teachers.”

The explanation from Nkosha is plausible. If applications were at district level, then extra attention is required. You will find that, in their desperation, some of the applicants sent their applications to 30 districts country wide. With their good qualifications, they may have been picked in all districts where they applied. Ensure also that ALL attached certificates are from real institutions and not Masumba’s University of Matero. Take your time.

The truth is that the PF government is broke. If it cannot pay existing teachers and other civil servants on time it obviously has no money to recruit more teachers. SIMPLE!

correct! Ngandu Magande said that the PF government is choking itself tight by doing projects meant for thirty (30) years in five years. This is why it has run out of money. Credit must go to the PF government for being so unselfish by embarking on such expensive ventures, few would dare. HH and his money hungry GBM can never. They would rather [pocket the money than develop the country. Viva Lungu, ifintu ni Lungu because he is performing. Load shedding, etc are very temporal.

Osaninyenga Wenye, you are right. President Lungu is performing because nothing goes without infrastructure. Everything starts with infrastructure. Farmers can not transport their produce without good roads, school cannot run without roads, health needs clinics and hospitals etc so vintu ndi a Lungu.

Guy Scott was right when he said that Lungu won due to God’s hand. It has shown that this President is given to us by God. Hes humble and all inclusive. 2016, PF will go through again, HH must start preparing for 3016.

Which govnm has failed to pay teachers? Sometimes we should say good where its due. The month ends on 30 or 31 but they got paid on 23. In April when they had salaris on 16th, I neva heard anybody thanking that. This is why we cant develop bcoz we politisiz everything.

Biko, do not worry. Our friends in the op[position think, wrongly so, that to be in opposition, you must say no to everything.

Anyway, let us recall the wise voices from the departed that said UPND shall forever remain behind just like buttocks are. levy Patrick Mwanawasa said so and he was right. UPND is so necessary to this country but it is necessary ONLY AS BUTTOCKS not the special tools in front for progress. So thank you UPND for fulfilling Mwanawasa’s prophesy of continuing as buttocks.

Who can vote for a Satanist anyway? Who can vote for a tribalist anyway? 2016, lets await HH’s cry again.

biko please understand that every employer, including the government, has a fixed pay day for its employees. Can you explain why the PF government fails to comply with its own fixed pay day for civil servants if not for lack of money?
