UPND Gives Govt Conditions For Attending National Prayer

GBMThe opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) has given government four conditions to meet before party members can attend the much talked about national day of prayer and fasting scheduled for October 18th, 2015.

And the opposition political party has assured that for as long as the people who are calling for these prayers are not being sincere in their dealings, the prayers will not be answered by God whether Mr. Hichilema is there or not.

UPND Special Assistant to the President Edward Mumbi has told QFM News in an interview that the party has not refused to go for the program but that they want the PF Government to address certain issues before showing up at the program.

Mr. Mumbi says it is important that the government clearly indicates how the lives of the people will be safeguarded during that event considering that there has been indiscriminate use of fire arms by PF cadres.

He believes that the life of the UPND Leader and other people maybe in danger if this issue is not carefully addressed.

He says other conditions that the government should meet is to tell the nation the way forward concerning the constitution making process which he says there is no clear roadmap in coming up with the new supreme law of the land.

He says other issues that need to be addressed are violence and insulting opposition leaders by PF cadres.

Mr. Mumbi has emphasized that the PF have been mocking the people of Zambia for a long period of time now and there is no need of sitting with them.

He quotes Psalms 1:1 which says “Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers”, saying it is difficult for the party to associate with the PF because of they have mocked Zambians.

Mr. Mumbi says if the above conditions are met, then party members will not have difficulties to be part of the proceedings.

Rubbish! Prayer should not be a substitute for negligence. To Christians most prayers are not answered because they baptize laziness. our current state does not need prayer but action.

hahahah! And you call yourselves Christians expecting God to answer your prayers with this kind of name calling and insults. Christians are hypocrites. I am better off not attending those prayers, because i am just wasting my time. Now tell me, Are you praying for ECL to continue with excessive drinking or are you praying for lucky of planning in the current govt? are you praying for the gun culture or job losses to continue. When your house is on fire are you going to kneel down and let God do a miracle of putting off the fire or you are supposed to act. God cannot do for you what you are capable of doing!

Batumfweko why do you remove quickly articles which seem to bring down HH and UPND? Eg the mayor of livingstone.. UPND its not about PF but God bringing us togather. Those should be your prayer requests. We are geared for prayers and m officialy inviting NEZ and hater to attend our over night prayers on 17 leadind into fasting on 18th

Kayula my brother this is the most important component.
Our leaders must be upright before our creater and then wisdom shall follow them.

The gathering is not about UPND. So I see no problem in them not attending. That is boycott and everyone knows the effect of boycott. The result is that the program continues and they boycotter loses. KK boycotted election in 19….shani just helped MMD to continue with minimum struggle. I think it was 1996.

If UPND doesn’t want to attend the prayers no one is forcing them but they should know that their leader has been exposed of who he is. Where do you expect a place of prayers to find confusion. Those conditions you have led forward are nothing but childish as your party officials are. Please UPND grow up. You have failed to sell your manifesto to the electorates because of your childish behaviour

    • Lulu

You’re aware how much he he has caused intimidation, HARRASSMENT, and even killing of the opposition ??????What manifesto are you talking about? Air France executives were forced to flee with their clothes in tatters after workers stormed a meeting at Charles de Gaulle airport in protest at 2,900 planned job cuts.
Human resources chief Xavier Broseta and Pierre Plissonnier, head of long-haul flights, scaled an eight-foot fence to escape, aided by security guards. Broseta emerged shirtless and Plissonnier had his suit ripped to shreds.

Violence erupted Monday as Air France told its works council that 300 pilots, 900 flight attendants and 1,700 ground staff might have to go after failed productivity talks with flight crew. The protest, in which agitators chanted “naked, naked,” is just the latest to turn physical in France, where managers at Michelin & Cie. and Sony Corp. have been held hostage over firings, irate farmers have blocked city streets with tractors and manure, and more than 100 Uber Technologies Inc. taxis were smashed up by rival drivers.

God is aware of intentions of th intended day of prayer & fasting. There is need for humbleness esp from those initiating the event. It is not a small thing that people should start writing ugly words. If people are scared, assure them of peace, if there are those who think PF and ba Lungu hate them politically, then PF & Lungu should preach love and harmony, then God will indeed listen. Extreme care is needed esp in those initiating the programme.

FORMER UPND vice president Richard Kapita says the Patriotic Front (PF) has set a foundation for easy victory in next year’s general elections following the wins the ruling party has recorded in parliamentary polls this year.
The ruling party has taken eight out of nine parliamentary by elections since the ascendancy to presidency of President Edgar Lungu in January this year with the latest being the Lubansenshi constituency last month.

Calling bad names to people, opposition or not, who have become outspoken on the day of prayer and fasting is not the answer to the problem. We beg ba PF and ba Lungu not to allow the spirit of insults, pangas, machettes and many physical evils full of discrimination to God’s people, anymore. What the opposition is telling you is what has bn portrayed under your leadership that you never ever thought you were leading God’s creation, but if you have now thought so, we praise and thank God Almighty. So please do not reiterate with hurty words as you prepare for this day.

I do not remember anywhere in Zambian history where conditions were made for anyone Leader to attend National Prayers be it at the Cathedral or anywhere else or let me say in this World! And how can you only acknowledge God in the Stadium and refuse to acknowledge the representive of God who went into a legitimate election and was voted into power by the Zambians? God does not operate like that! He promotes and chooses Leadership! He even mentions it clearly in the First Commandment in Exodus 20 that you shall not have other gods before me. Stop idol worshipping and let those who are willing and obedient attend these National Prayers twapapata. It is not by fire oor by force! Tukapepa.

Prayers my foot! After messing up the economy and now the plate is too hot to handle they want to hoodwink us with prayers. ECL and his minions can go ahead and pray on their own for all we care. Why involve us now as if they involved us when they were overborrowing and the likes. After all the bible says where to or more people are gathered in my name, I am in their midst. Moreover with mealie meal now going at K90 and the price of every commodity going up, who has time to go and pray with the same people who caused the problem instead of going to work hard in order to feed our families . God cannot be mocked, you reap where you sow. Period.
