Mutati Sees No Hope For Zambia In K53.14bn National Budget

felixFormer Commerce Minister Felix Mutati has observed that the announced the 2016 K53.14 billion national budget does not give hope Zambia will cross over the current economic crisis.

Mr. Mutati thinks that the Finance Minister Alexander Chikwanda has presented a routine budget which has no impact on the ordinary people of Zambia.

He has told Qfm News that this is because the budget has missed the point of what was supposed to done to enable diversify the country’s economy.

Mr. Mutati is of the view that the 2016 national budget should have focused on issues that are slowing down efforts to diversify the Zambian economy given the current economic crisis.

He has expressed doubt the continued tightening of the fiscal policy as outlined in next year’s national budget will fuel diversification of the economy.

Mr. Mutati thinks that the 2016 national budget should have had measures to deal with the mining sector as opposed to benefiting road contractors more.

He says he therefore finds the 2016 national budget to be lukewarm.

just my view as well. why increasing duty on motor vehicles? why introducing a surcharge of k2000 on vehicles older than five years. how many zambians can afford vehicles of less than five years?

Car makers like the new introduction can thrive when second hand cars are discouraged. Other new car makers can come

I think ba Feligo you are not being fair to your own people of Zambia. ABC has realised that most of the monies in the road sector has gone into foreign countries and it is important to give Zambians an incentive to participate in this sector and then you complain. I think you are also finished Mr. Feligo.

The budget is well articulated and aims at improving key areas in our economy. This is the translation of ecl speech in practical terms and alot of fools were saying lungu speech was just flowery. Now wait and see how economy is going to be rejuvenated.

So since when did pf differentiate between cadres and those in public office. Is chikwanda not in government? Has he not failed kikikikiki.

My condolences to Kaingu’s tragic loss of such a big asset. However I blame him for his recent comments in Parliament likening Lungu’s speech to that of Obama and Roosevelt as well as saying PF is the best government out of the 3 he served. You know God knows how to punish hypocrites.Let him reflect on what he said and will find that the fire that devoured his lodge could be from spiritual realm.I have never seen such an inferno destroy a well thatched structures in the manner it happened.

Hello fellow republicans,i think at the moment it important that we analyze critically to see who our next leader should be. let us stop arguing, name calling and politics of insults as wise as we are. lets us use our wisdom to advise those in leadership what should happen next in hamony. if PF has failed which party should form GRZ next we are not yet certain to date. And if UPND so wishes that we vote for it, let it explain clearly to the wise zambians how it intends transform this Ernest peace loving country for a better one.
As zambians we need to hear wise plans of economical transformation and how the said shall be executed regardless of which political party. And from there we will choose wisely come 2016. we seem to have lost truck

Just go to our neighbours Zambia they took 256 people and their President hired a private jet that took him all the way to New York and waited for him right there for the return trip,” said a visibly-angry Mutharika. Malawi’s president arguing that he was not as extravagant as our president. Even our neighbours realise we are careless in the midst of economic challenges.

How can this learned and experienced man conclude that the budget does not deal with diversification? It’s either this guy has not read the budget or he is very dull.

    1. The increase on the export of raw timber is meant to encourage value addition. Is that not diversification?
    2. Reducing excise duty on local clear beer to make it competitive with foreign beers, is that not diversification?

    3. Reducing property transfer fees to spur and encourage business in properties, is that not diversification?

    What do you people want?
