ZESCO has attributed the system disturbance that resulted in the lose of power in the early hours of today in all provinces of the country except for Lusaka to tripling of all three 330kv lines at its Leopards Hill substation in Lusaka.
ZESCO spokesperson Henry Kapata has disclosed to Qfm News that his company believes the three 330kv lines tripped as a result of a fault at its Kabwe step down substation.
Mr. Kapata states that the fault in Kabwe was however rectified around 05:00hrs in the morning and that the restoration power to the rest of the parts of the country begun at 05:48hrs.
He has also disclosed that South province also lost power as result of lose of generation of power at Victoria Falls power station and the tripling of the 220kv line that runs from Muzuma substation in Choma into Kafue town substation.
Mr. Kapata says the restoration of power in Southern Province begun at 02:25hrs.
He states that ZESCO apologizes for the inconvenience this may have caused and has since launched an investigation to ascertain the cause of the fault.

This explanation is not good enough, we all know a system can trip when there is a system disturbance, but a system disturbance always has a cause. Zesco should explain what caused this disturbance

Zesco has always a full package of excuses only that this time they have spared innocent animals and birds.
One wwonders what investigations Kapata is talking about when he has already explained the cause of the power outage.
These PF cadres are not taking us anywhere.
