Lungu: I Want To Be Best President Zambia Has Ever Had

He is Zambia’s sixth President and he says he has an opportunity to show his potential given the time and conditions.
“I can’t compete with those that are gone but I think, given my time and conditions, I would like to be the best President that Zambia has ever seen,” President Lungu said.
The President was speaking at State House yesterday when he met recipients of the Mandela Fellowship for the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) from across the country.
Mr Lungu said as a person who loves taking up challenges, he would do his best to ensure that he makes a difference in his tenure.
“I will take up the challenge and do my best to ensure that I make a difference. I am a listening person and I find answers by listening and others find answers by question,” President Lungu said.
He said one thing he refuses is to die with unexploited potential adding that Zambia’s transformation is dependent on everyone’s potential and abilities.
“A good number of people in my generation have been buried with the potential in them. I don’t think the potential should just pass our generation, we need to ensure that we take advantage of the opportunities we have and be the change we want to see,” the President said.
Mr Lungu told the Mandela Fellows to take advantage of the fellowship in order to bring change in their various communities.
“With this opportunity of being identified by the fellowship, use it to bring out the potential and let the potential blossom and transform your lives and the communities you come from,” President Lungu said.
He said he is happy with the fellowship, which has identified the potential in Zambia’s young people.
“I didn’t know I would be a lawyer. I didn’t know I would be a politician but I knew I could do something to contribute to my community, so as recipients of the fellowship exploit your potential and whatever you are doing you can always do it better. With this opportunity you have, do the best and exploit your potential,” he said.
Earlier, United States (US) Ambassador to Zambia Eric Shultz said 42 young Zambians had benefitted from the fellowship.
Mr Shultz said applications received showed that Zambian youths are smart and have the potential to excel.

What did Mwanawasa do that you keep singing praises to him. He just reaped where he did not sow and did a selective fight against corruption while his wife Mollin accumulated stolen wealth from poor Zambians. Oh another thing he did was to fire Bembas in whom he found in key positions

Besides actually so far you performing at number 6th followed by that criminal RB, but work hard you might beat RB but definitely not close to KK, Chiluba and Mwanawasa.As for Sata you are all in the same bracket, talk too much with little to write home about.

Yes I didnt respect Sata too just because he didnt respect people, he insulted us (in diaspora) when I was in Botswana on work related assignment. That was stupid of him, he even insulted a nurse who asked him about developments back home, we all felt bad for her just because this lady was short with a very thin voice, but we knew (few knew) he would not live longer, it was already spread. We let it pass.

Yes definitely ECL is one of a kind,the man is so humble and is just your ordinary Zambian. Take for example loadshedding it was supposed to have started five years ago and by now we wouldn’t be in this mess. Come ECL it started and we are now looking for alternatives, if Mwanawasa was so brilliant why didn’t he forsee this power crisis and our over dependence on copper???.

What best about Levy?. The man had no honour look at what he did to Chiluba thats why in 2006 he lost Lusaka urban, copperbelt urban and Luapula . So mot everyone was for Levy, he actually gave rise to PF

His excellency the late Dr Levy P Mwanawasa was the best president Zambia had. Pf was born out of frustration and bitterness of sata after chiluba chose mwanawasa over him. The rise in popularity of pf came about by the corruptness of RB which was capitalised on by pf with the help of Post newspaper. BUT LEVY WAS STILL THE BEST, NOT THESE NYAMASOYAS AND KANGAROOS.

We saw the melting down of both MMD and UPND in Levy`s days. For your own information, UPND was stronger than it is today. Mr Mazoka had greater influence than President HH.

He lost because thieves ganged together to ensure that his corruption crusade does not succeed. You recall the K2 billion scandal of Dr Peter Machungwa, Dr Katele Kalumba, FTJ, etc. Sata embraced all the culprits and campaigned against Levy that he was victimising the Bembas.
