ABIGAIL Mbuye, a second year computer studies student at Evelyn Hone College in Lusaka, was last Friday crowned Miss Hone beating seven other beauties.
Meanwhile, Copperbelt-based rhymer Chef 187 stole the limelight at Miss Hone beauty pageant held at Chainama Hotel.
Mbuye (left), 21, received the crown after beating seven other beauties who competed in the contest that included the funky, Afrocentric and career cocktail and summer wear.
In an interview with the Weekend Mail, the new title-holder described her win as a dream come true.
“I felt good to win this competition and it is a dream come true for me, especially that this was the first time I am taking part in a pageant,” Mbuye, whose hobby is modelling, said.
Miss Hone, who walked away with a cool K1,000 cash prize and a bed space in school, pledged to be “a good ambassador for my school”.
Ruth Banda, a 19-year-old first year biomedical student was named Miss Personality while Priscilla Mwanza, 19, a second year pharmacy student and Hannah Chiwenda, a 20-year-old first year marketing student were respectively given the first and second princess crowns.
Meanwhile, Chef 187 stole the limelight at the pageant held at Chainama Hotel.
The show began after 23:00 hours with several curtain-raisers from Lusaka-based artistes.
But just after the beauties cat-walked for the introduction, Chef took to the stage for over 30 minutes churning out several of his beats, much to the amusement of the excited crowds who continuously sang along.
The crowd was sent scramming when the 2015 Zambia Music Best mainstream album award winner serenaded his Ndafilwa Ukuichindika and Kumalilangoma tracks.
I hope she was wearing an underwear when modelling. Otherwise, she will be prosecuted like her Zimbabwean counterparty.
