Lungu Declares October 18 Public Holiday

PRESIDENT Lungu has declared October 18 as a national day of prayer to be gazetted as a public holiday and has urged Zambians to work together towards nation-building.
The President has also urged politicians against seeking political success on the back of national failure.
The head of State said this during the national day of repentance, fasting and prayer at the Showgrounds in Lusaka yesterday.

Mr Lungu said people with ideas that would contribute positively to the development of the nation are free to advise Government, as his administration has an open- door policy at all levels.
“It is important for us to have positive thoughts about ourselves and our country. Zambia is a great nation, enjoying peace and stability, rich in natural resources, with peace-loving and friendly citizens.
“Although the mandate to govern this great nation was given to the Patriotic Front (PF), this should not prevent other citizens from offering solutions to the many challenges the country is facing,” President Lungu said
The President also appealed to Zambians to endeavour to do their best and leave the rest to God.
“After all, we are a God’s nation, and with God, all things are possible. When we identify ourselves with God, failure is not our portion. I want to say that love is really the greatest and most powerful ingredient of all.
“Love brings life around us. God is love, and so, if we love one another, we are embracing the presence of God in our lives and in the nation. We are a nation of faith; we are a Christian nation,” declared President Lungu.
President Lungu also declared that Zambia is now set free from dark forces and that the nation is blessed and prosperous.
Mr Lungu also said he is thankful to God Almighty for allowing the assembly to observe a national day of repentance, reconciliation, prayer and fasting.
The President said he personally believes that God has forgiven the sins of Zambians and that He will heal the nation since Zambians have humbled themselves as a people.
He said Zambians have sincerely cried out to “the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob” and that he has heard the cry.
“Our desire to come before God at such a time as this when the country is experiencing socio-economic challenges which are causing anxiety and distress amongst the people, is a sign of our reverence to God and acknowledgement of His sovereignty,” President Lungu said.
President Lungu also quoted a Bible scripture from the book of 1 John 1:9, which reads: “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
Mr Lungu appealed to all Zambians to endevour to identify themselves as Zambians first before segregating themselves into political parties, regions, colour or religion.
He also said there is need for Zambians to undergo self-transformation as this is critical to transforming the nation.
“Transformation occurs by the renewing of the mind. Therefore, there is need for us to change the way we think about ourselves, our circumstances, our surroundings, our communities and our nation as a whole,” President Lungu said

If truly you’re God’s creation, then you’re putting your life on the knife edge. Coz if you are, why then being obstinate??

Elo lwanya, whats with this Lungu? Is he dying or something? Zambia does not need more holidays, a full day holiday is a loss of a full productive day from mines all the way to small enterprises costing millions. Shall we start having presidents declaring holidays as they please?

here is pf and lungu’s reasoning: you are starving therefore inorder to help you i demand that we fast and pray . Cost of living has become high, therefore to help you i have decided to make the 18th a public holiday so as to prevent you from working and making a living. bane if this doesnt prove that this man is a visionless chap then i do not know what.vote vision vote hh
