‘Hakainde Hichilema And His Zambian Watchdog (Bitterman And His Dog)’
When a person is bitten by a dog he or she doesn’t confront the dog demanding to know why they have been bitten. What the victim of the dog bite does is looking for the owner of the dog. It is common in our compounds for such a victim to put a direct question to the owner of the dog as follows; “Imbwa yenu cinshi yansumina?” (Why has your dog bitten me?) Of-course one can argue that such an approach is illogical. But given our way of life and practices it is perfectly in order to challenge the owner of a dog that has bitten somebody demanding some answers. This is because a person who keeps a dog and indeed other animals such as goats, cows etc shoulders responsibility for what his or her animals do.
Similarly, United Party for National Development (UPND) leader Mr. Hakainde Hichilema (HH) should take responsibility for his “watchdog” called the Zambian Watchdog (ZWD). This is because HH is the owner of the political agenda that the ZWD pushes.
As such, the world knows that the ZWD is HH’s mouthpiece. One doesn’t need to be a rocket scientist to know this notorious fact. All that one needs to do is browse the ZWD and they will be confronted with the naked truth I am talking about here.
As a matter of fact HH is on recorded commending his “watchdog” at a time when we all expected him to condemn it given the hatred and satanic malice they were spreading during the time of the illness of late President Michael Chilufya Sata. I will not be tempted to belabour this point because the notorious fact that HH is ZWD and ZWD is HH is not in dispute.
Given the foregoing, I wish to challenge and counsel HH over the conduct of his “watchdog” regarding a story I just read on their platform. However, before I proceed allow me to mention that I read the ZWD as a way of reading HH. On ZWD I have an opportunity to know and understand the mind of HH. I understand his hatred, tribalism, sadism, mediocre economic views, hypocrisy, shamelessness and scandalous dishonesty.
The story on the ZWD I have referred to above is under the heading “REAL CHURCHES AND LUNGU’S DAY OF PRAYER – CATHOLICS CHOSE TO WORSHIP WITH HH”. I wish to challenge HH about the lie that the catholic fraternity chose to worship with him. HH knows very well that the Catholic Church is not cheap and has never as a church sunk to such levels of choosing to side with an individual politician.
The Catholic Church has had its fair share of mistakes, some of them grave, in its long history and it has learnt from its mistakes. This learning from its mistakes has made the Catholic Church very wise in its official conduct.
What is true is that the position of the Catholic Church sometimes coincides with that or those of other organisations including political parties. When this happens the Catholic Church is understood as going to bed with such organisations. For instance the position of the Catholic Church regarding the current constitution making process has coincided with that of some civil society organisations (CSO) and some opposition political parties including the UPND. So some people can accuse our church of working with the opposition and CSOs who are usually accused of advancing foreign interests.
So if HH claimed that he was with the Catholic Church on issues concerning the constitution making process, he wouldn’t be far from the truth. But for HH to claim that the Catholic Church chose to worship with him and not the rest of the country as implored by our Republican President Mr Edgar Chagwa Lungu, he is lying with a straight face. The Bembas would call it “ubufi ubwafita fititi”.
HH should be honest and tell Zambians that his party asked to join the catholic community at St. Ignatius on Sunday 18, 2015, the day Zambians observed as a day of national prayer, fasting and reconciliation. Although the priests at St. Ignatius are aware that HH is an elder in a church that preaches that those who worship on Sunday are lost they allowed HH to join them for mass. This is because the Catholic Church embraces everyone including those that insult her. Against this background I challenge HH to prove that he was invited not just by St. Ignatius Catholic parish but the Catholic Church. I also challenge HH to prove that after catholics allegedly worshiped with him they didn’t go to any of the places where Zambians from all walks of life gathered to pray as entreated by President Lungu.
Let me now counsel this armature and forever under 5 politician. By saying Catholics chose to worship with him, HH has again brought the name of the Catholic Church into unnecessary disrepute in the same way he did to Paramount Chief Chitimukulu of the Bemba people of Northern province. Zambians will remember that even our state broadcaster was used to propagate the lie that Chitimukulu had endorsed HH ahead of the January 2015 presidential election. It took my strong letter to ZNBC to kill the malicious propaganda and save Mwinelubemba the controversy that the lie caused.
In this case at hand some gullible members of the public may believe HH’s lie that he was invited by the Catholic Church to pray with them as a way of shunning the National Day of Prayer (NDP).
HH and his ZWD think that Zambians are foolish. The ZWD has published a photo of HH and his vice president Mr. Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba alias GBM with Catholic priest Fr. Charles Chilinda sitting between them presumably after the Eucharistic service on Sunday 18, 2015. Now this is the same Catholic priest who was one of the clergy on the official programme for national prayer day held at the Lusaka Show Ground main arena attended by President Lungu. Against this background, I wish to counsel this bitterman called HH that one of the effective tools that has been de-campaigning him is his own ZWD. I say so because even children who watched ZNBC TV or listened to the live broadcast of the proceedings at the show grounds know that Fr. Chilinda joined President Lungu in observing the national day of prayer. He even played an active role by taking a bible reading. Moreover, the English choir from the same St. Ignatius parish sung the National Anthem. So the Zambian Watch Dog is indeed a sleeping dog that only sees what it is told to see by the owner.
HH also claimed, of-course through his mouthpiece, that the NDP in Lusaka was presided by what they called Tuntemba churches and “excommunicated ‘priests like Frank Bwalya’. This statement shows what HH really thinks about other churches unlike President Lunngu who respects all churches. Regarding the issue of “excommunicated priest Frank Bwalya’ I challenge HH to quote a letter or statement issued by the Catholic Church announcing my excommunication.
The truth of the matter is that I attend mass and receive Holy Communion openly. This means that I am in full communion with my church. So HH should stop lying. Moreover, it is not true that I was among the people who presided over the proceedings of the NDP in Lusaka. I was just one of the patriotic and God fearing citizens who heeded the call to prayer. Again HH and his ZWD are propagating this lie thinking that Zambians are dull and have very short memory to follow and keep in mind current issues in Zambia including the issue of my status.
To make a long story short, I just want to commend all Zambians that again ignored HH’s call to boycott national prayers. This man shouldn’t be trusted because he is evasive and his position on many national issues is premised on narrow and selfish political motives.
HH tried hard to stop people from heeding the call to prayer and a few of his blind followers started parroting his position only to be told that he would in fact be part of the prayers. However, some of his blind followers who came to the Show Ground were shocked to learn that HH was not there. I asked one UPND member who I argued with on facebook over this issue why their master was not in attendance despite the announcement by the party that he will participate. His response was “bakalamba uyu muntu kuti akwipaisha”. (Big man this man can get you killed).
HH is a man who would encourage Chipulu (not real name) to insult his father for refusing to support HH while making efforts to secure the support of Chipulu’s father. And when finally HH gets the support of Chipulu’s father he ignores the damage done to the relationship of the father and his own son. For HH the end justifies the means.
To those churches that HH and his ZWD has insulted and labelled as ‘tuntemba’ please don’t allow such a man to come anywhere near state power. He has exposed his real feelings about your churches and it is clear that he has no regard for you and your clergy. I urge you to continue standing up against such leaders and ensure that only God fearing men and women ascend to the presidency in our land so that we can continue to honour God in the manner we did on 18th October.

Ichilema never seizes to amaze me, the same Roman Priests he is boasting of being together at St Ignatius, are the ones who were the organizers of the prayer, fasting and reconciliation at Show Grounds. He should know that he is fighting a lone battle!!

I think what Frank is saying can certainly be applied to Tumfweko as well because seem to me and everyone else with an unbiased eye that they never seem to carry any positive stories about HH, so I guess we should link them to being a propaganda news site isn’t? But that’s not even what my point is… I’m pretty certain that clearly for such hatred for one individual to come from a former “clergyman” with a questionable character is pretty much a clear indication that the gathering was not about reconciliation but politically motivated to boost and glorify this failed leadership. ZWD is not a factor in whether or not people will vote for HH, he is the ultimate factor. Funny how the title talks about bitterness when this whole article is marinating in bitterness.

Ba Frank this is a good article but may I correct a few issues HH is not an Elder in the church in the church you are referring to bufi he is not even a baptized member he is just a congregant. Then the church you are referring to has a lot of of pf members so be careful how you handle it, it does not condemn anyone it just preaches the bible. Some of its Elders not HH are even in your cabinet. HH belongs to that other church which you know very well.

Funny how he has so much hatred for HH… isn’t he just envious of the following that HH is enjoying that he couldn’t achieve while in opposition? The SDA church Franc is insulting is the second biggest church in Zambia with more than one million baptized members, apart from children and non baptised members. In total, the church has more than 2 million members. Franc should tame his mouth because even those he calls small tutemba churches have members who can make a huge difference. What could have happened at the show grounds where the above 40 year old police recruits were on guard and their would be no escape route?

Why does this ‘father’ hate HH so much? I thought the day in question should have been of reconciliation and not an opportunity to find faults in others? I have the following questions to this ‘father’ and his supporters:
1. Is HH the only person who missed that prayers session?
2. Does it mean that those who attended church services in other places other than the Show Grounds were not praying to God?
3. Was it a PF prayer day or it was for all willing Zambians who would pray even in churches?
4. Is a prayer session a forcing matter?
5. Aren’t insults, hatred, jealousy, accusations,lies etc part of what the devil gives to an individual? If so who is a real satanist between this father and HH?
6. Since some PF supporters like this ‘father; are attacking an opposition leader, would people wrong to conclude that the Prayer Day was for political expedience for PF?
7. Isn’t judging HH in the manner this ‘father’ did blasphemous because the Bible does not permit any human being to judge or condemn another human being? Isn’t this ‘father’ trying to put himself where he is not supposed to be?
Let us not encourage such amount of hatred towards a fellow Zambian who is just trying to offer himself for national leadership just like others.Insulting UPND or PF leaders will not solve the problems we are facing. I’m appealing to all sobber and well-meaning Zambians to condemn such type of hate speech as that spoken by ‘father’ Bwalya.
