Lungu Should Fight Corruption Like Late President Mwanawasa Did – Mwaanga

RB-LunguVeteran Politician Vernon Mwaanga says corruption has caused an unbearable loss to the country economy in recent years, and has since urged President Edgar Lungu to renew his commitment in the fight against graft.

Mr. Mwaanga says corruption undermines citizens’ confidence in democratic institutions and the rule of law; and also hurts the economy and deprives state of much-needed tax revenue.

He says many Zambiavj laughingstockn citizens believe corruption has become worse as a result of the deep economic and financial problems in the country brought about by the sovereign debt crisis.
Mr. Mwaanga says there is need for the President to renew his commitment in the fight against corruption so as to build corruption free Zambia.

He says as a Lawyer, President Lungu should emulate the late President Levy Mwanawasa, who fought corruption head on.
Mr. Mwaanga has observed that Corruption within the public sector remains one of the biggest challenges.
He states that corruption still remains one of the country’s most difficult obstacles for development.

Does Lungu listen to such? Otherwise half of the cabinet need to be fired, and since he who tolerates corrupt nincompoops like RB he is also corrupt.

Can you tell the nation on which single matter President Lungu show his adamance . The hate you have for ECL will not make any other leader after him a good leader not at all. That is what we call divide and rule tactics!

Mwanawasa did not fight corruption, he carried out a vendetta. Was there any reduction of the scourge after he took over ? No. In fact it rose. He only Bembas especially y those from Luapula. People like Liato went on with their corruption as usual. Mr Mwaanga should just put his cards on the table. Is he talking about Dora? Well why didn’t Mwanawasa arrest her? She was not Bemba or she didn’t steal.

Its true Mwanawasa was very selective in his fight against corruption. Didn’t he want to let off the hook Kashiwa Bulaya but for people’s vigilance? Diangamo had stolen money for some project (?Olympic complex) but Mwanawasa not only let him scot free but actually even appointed him to some position.

Under which means is he going to be remembered as a best President? As far as I’m concerned, it’s our deeds that bears fruits and a yardstick measure for our success. For the current president, such an effort to fight Corruption and create a conducive environment for development is hardly seen. In this view, how can he be remembered?

RUSSIAN Ambassador to Zambia Konstantin Kozhanov says the best way of finding solutions to the economic crisis in Zambia is by making the right decisions during next year’s general elections. And German envoy Bernd Finke says it is frustrating that Zambia, which has numerous possibilities and talented people, is failing to make progress in fighting poverty. In an interview on Wednesday, Ambassador Kozhanov said Zambia was surviving with so many difficulties, some of which were imposed by climate change. “For example, Zambia is now surviving with so many difficulties; difficulties concerning the rains, the low water [levels]. So we altogether just have to find some solutions for these very urgent problems concerning climate change,” he said. When asked: “Zambia is going through an economic crisis right now. The energy crisis, the job losses in the mines, the depreciating kwacha, what suggestions do you have on how Zambia can find solutions to these problems?” Ambassador Kozhanov said the answer lay in the decisions that people will make through the vote next year. “You should make right decision, good decision, proper decision for the next election, that is the better way to find solutions,” he said.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR HONEST AND PRECISE OBSERVATION MR.MWAANGA. NOTHING ELSE HAS KILLED OUR COUNTRY TO THIS EXTEND OTHER THAN CORRUPTION.LEADERS IN THE COUNTRY ARE HIGHLY CORRUPT, TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE, LUNGU IS A BENEFICIARY OF CORRUPTION IN THE COUNTRY, HENCE HE CANNOT CRITICIZE THE PERPETRATORS OF THE VISE. LET LUNGU CONDEMN CORRUPTION THE WAY MWANAWASA DID. GOOD ADVISE ONCE AGAIN MR. MWAANGA. IF LUNGU HAS EARS, LET HIM HEAR!

Dr. Mwaanga’s analysis on corruption is partially true and partially incorrect. It is in the sense that
corruption undermines citizens’ confidence in democratic institutions and the rule of law; and also hurts the economy and deprives state of much-needed tax revenue. The is incorrect to assert that President Lungu should emulate the late President Levy Mwanawasa, who fought corruption head on. In my view Mwanawasa’s so called crusade against corruption
was a personal vendetta against his predecessor. The corruption being witnessed today did not start with Lungu.

  20. spear ngozi   October 23, 2015 at 8:18 pm

There is too much tribalism in zambia and no matter what suffering pf can cause to zambians, majority in northern part of central province, copperbelt, northern, luapula and muchinga provinces will stil vote for pf coz to them the election is not about voting to improve their lives but its about stopping a tonga man from ever set foot in state house,i live in one of these areas and they tell me that they cant vote for ng’ombe!

  21. Jacko   October 24, 2015 at 6:37 am

SPEAR NGOZI,do you read peoples minds corretly? As at present the desire to have PF in govt.next year is not there.Zambians usually are very calm when making pollitical decision.Aba ba SELA TUBOMBEKO or SELA TWIBEKO they know their time is over.Lungu and his henchmen will be sorted out in 2016.Who does not know that PF has delibarately destroyed the economy, even a child knows that PF is a failed project. We shall rise and vote for UPND when that day comes.Infact most of us have already decided to remove pf.Ala,twasebana sana naba PF,Ubu tebuteko iyoo.

  23. The Mentalist   October 24, 2015 at 8:35 am

The picture of Nyama Soya and Edgar is clearly troubling. Zambians discarded Rupiah who the PF of Sata also clearly rejected. The test is to see how Zambians vote next year, all the best to all voters because for me like Barney Kanjela of Chingola, am taking a self imposed apathy in next year’s vote. God bless Zambia according to your will.

  24. Kambonga   October 25, 2015 at 4:25 pm

Spear Ngozi…you have to be genuine to get my vote. You are spot on…bwana Lungu has my vote! The Nega-Nega formula always reminds me on how one must endorse their candidate.
