ZAMBIA Wild Life Authority (ZAWA) has released unconditionally the man who alleged unleashed a snake from his pocket to the public and Police after they attempted to arrest him for bashing a woman pedestrian last week.
ZAWA Spokesperson said the man revealed during intense interrogation that he was given this spitting Cobra by his Grand Father in 1993 for protection and that the snake does not grow nor die. He said even if Zawa or anyone got his snake from him, it would return to him.
ZAWA decided to release the man as belief in Witchcraft is unreasonable under the Laws of Zambia & that ZAWA deals more in scientific protection of endangered species and not witchcraft.
The Spokesperson has however said the man will be charged with possession of Wildlife without a Wildlife License once ZAWA determines that his type of Snake is an endangered wildlife.

THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED IN ZIMBABWE JUST FEW WEEKS AGO WHERE A MAN WAS FOUND WITH A COBRA SNAKE IN A LAPTOP BAG AND THE POLICE RELEASED THE MAN TOGETHER WITH THE SNAKE AFTER GIVING SIMILAR EXPLANATION LIKE WHAT THIS MAN HAS JUST SAID.
THE BEST WAS TO BURN THE SNAKE MAY ZAWA FEARED TO DO THAT.
No law was broken as I said when this story came up. Domesticating other animals apart from a cat and a dog is no crime neither does it indicate witchcraft. As for its lifespan a cobra in the wild can live up to 20-25years, in captive it can live even longer. So 1993 – 2015 its 22yrs within its normal lifespan.
The story says it does not grow not that shit of life span. It’s stunted in short. It was given to him in 1993 and mind you it was not hatched in that year. Maybe 30 or 40years before 1993. It does not pain to think a little bit more brother.
What does grow mean to you, size? As long as there is time elapsing, thats its age. The man didnt indicate at what age the snake was, secondly all this is hearsay based on his narratives – what if hes lying? So you lecturing me is tantamount to being silly.
Even you stop cheating people with the environmental science knowledge. Better stay mute cos this story is beyond academics.

I do not like snakes I’m a typical African. What ZAWA did was the right thing to do. It is his to keep a snake as a pet just as people others keep what they like. And just because it’s a snake doesn’t make him a witch.

God created a snake (serpent) with full knowledge of its fangs, venom, striking speed and its intelligence. It just never TURNED into a ‘bad creature’. So having an ophidophobia is no excuse to say a snake is evil.

As a pet (see how well it sits on his lap) you will be scared of approaching him, and being Africans that we are, you might even think hes gonna send it to you like we do with dogs ati – swaaaaaa! to attack you you! In short, the very fear of snakes by humans actually ‘protects’ him.
@Jjb you and i had a nice conversation first time this story surfaced and am begaining to think this guy just pulled a fast one on the dumb police and the zawa if its a spitting cobra as they claim having had it since the 90’s it would’ve been so big that even he can’t carry it on his body we talking at one of the longest venomous snakes..
