Veteran politician Vernon Mwaanga says the challenges the country is grappling with are not unique to PF Government, but come with each and every government.
Dr. Mwaanga says what the country needs now is to ensure that these challenges are addressed so that the country can move forward.
He says Zambians be it from the opposition or the ruling party should all take part in finding solutions to the challenges the country is facing.
He adds that if the country overcomes the challenges it is current facing, it will benefit every Zambian and may also be an advantage for the opposition in the event they got into government.
Dr. Mwaanga says there is need to concentrate on things that matter to the people of Zambia and ignore those that tend to divide the nation and bring about hatred and unnecessary ill-feelings among Zambians.
He points out that some of the development challenges the country should work on addressing are fighting poverty, better access to education, improving healthcare, housing among many others.

Am very glad that Dr Mwaanga in now speaking as a veteran politician. That is WISDOM!
Am sure by the time we reach April 2016, only NEZ and Mr Hichilema will be blaming Lungu even for an old lady who fails to push a cotton thread through the eye of a small needle.

@Keng, ask these Mwanawasa ‘tooters’. Do they know that Mwanawasa presided over Zambia at the time when the copper prices just started jumping upwards. Level started thus second term when China started buying big and EL came into power when China slumped. They conveniently choose to not know.
umuntu ni lungu.
November 5, 2015 at 9:08 am
I like lungu of copperbelt. Government should talk to local business houses not to take advantage of the situation. In Isoka for example Gov can come up with emergency filling stations. Govt should not leave fuel and meal meal to private business men whose main intrest is profit lets see how best our free market policy can be managed. why are solar milling plants taking long?

November 5, 2015 at 9:21 am
VJ has used diplomatic language by saying “these challenges are not unique to PF”.What this means is that PF are neither the first ones to experience this situation nor the last ones.So bare in mind that it the capacity that is lacking with the leadership.Understand the language people and make sense out of it.

For sure this isnt the first,& not EDGARS nor PFs problem as to why zambia is going thru this, but the failure of all our leaders be it in ruling or opposition bcoz all are players in this game called politics & thats a reason why they all go to the parliament to work for zambia & its citizens,us the voters.IN govt/parliament we hav Garry nkombo, richwell siamunene upnd, vincent mwale mmd & other pf members, all these guys there job is to save the interest of mother zambia.so you can blame the headteacher for the poor results of pupils without talking about teacher who are always in class with these pupils.what do our parliamentarians do in parliament everyday?

My understanding is that, VJ is right but the big problem is that our president Mr. E. C. Lungu would never accept an advise from the opposition no matter what, even from him VJ Lungu cant never. There are a lot of examples someone can give that were given to the ruling party by the opposition but the result on such are insults, then how do you think you can be together and one solution when the other party is after some peoplez lives and under letting them ss little children.

There are words and sentences that can be taken literal and the other way round is true. In a case of Mwaanga’s observation, he is telling the government to stop crying and solve the current crisis. Lest, no solutions would be provided and the only thing will be blaming the past government and the natural events.

Kakolwe what was the price of copper per tonne in 2001-2002,what is the current price of copper per tonne? and what led to anglo American pulling out? Do you know that mwanawasa become president when national production of maize, which is the main food crop, decreased by about 30 per cent compared to the 1999/2000 crop season (from 1053000 to 802000 metric tonnes). The situation deteriorated even further in the following crop season since drought in early 2002 led to a maize shortage of 635 000 metric tonnes. It was estimated that the 2001/02 crop production will only feed 6million people out of a total population of more than 10million, it had to take a business minded president to get Zambia out of that scenario, remember the winter maize project? Even under such difficult conditions he never wanted Zambians to be fed on cheap genetically modified maize, and here comes your president holding grudges against businessmen, @i won’t allow anglo American to come back, every business person knows that there no grudges in business it’s all about i get my share you get yours we move on, even drug dealers know that, where you friends tuff ends yours start, achita monga enzeko mu 2002 when anglo decided to pull out,si Zambia ya nyoko to start dictating who should come here for business,i just wonder why anglo American gives him sleepless nights? Is it something to do with politics?

These are the kind of sentiments from our very own Freedom Fighters that paid their dear lives for our independence from our colonial masters, and gave us the platform as this generation to now attain Economic, Social, Political independences for a better Zambia through dialogue and we are counting on you to bring ideas of how to mitigate these challenges using such fora as Social Media! Anglo American Corp had domestic problems with their own Citizens that resulted in massive strikes not so long ago citing poor conditions of service, salary imbalances, social amenities just to mention but a few, Diamonds are being mined day in day out, is it advisable then to invite such investors to come and offer better services to Zambians when they are failing to take care of their own? These are Investors that will continue reaping from our hard earned Copper and leave us underdeveloped! For a country that is 4th position in Copper production, we are in squalor and impoverished and we have to put an end to such selfishness! Look at Mopani, Glencore is very rich and we had overseas protestors on our behalf who expressed anger that they were reaping us off without any regard to assist us develop while we the Zambians slept and carried on our lives business as usual. Now they want to throw 4,000 of our own people on the Streets when copper prices globally are low? We are saying awe bane ni stick by life! You are the technocrats to change things round. We fought for Democracy for world changers like yourselves teifyo fine Ba VJ? Politics of insults are for the less mortal and throughout Vernon’s political dispensation or Career,he has NEVER insulted anyone on any Platform and Late President Levy Mwanawasa conferred on him with an honour on Africa Freedom Day for his dedication and service and we all know that Levy was a WALL ichibumba that never was too easy to break! In short he is simply whether MMD, UPND, FDD, NAREP,PF, let us find lasting solutions and change Zambia for the better! He is my Mentor and Family Member, he calls me “MJ”! Thank you your Excellency Sir, for your usual sound advice and cry for a better Zambia! Twayatelela makhani aya yabota maningi!

“The challenges the country is grappling with are not unique to PF” meaning that PF is used to having such. But VJ cleverly adds “but with and every government” and finally and tactfully acknowledges the possibility of a new government. A good mentally-constructed thought from VJ though.
