POLICE in Kabwe have arrested a 67-year-old man who was allegedly found exhuming human remains at Old Mukobeko cemetery.
The suspect identified as Salias Matambalika of Shamabanse area, was apprehended on Tuesday night by people who found him tampering with a grave at the burial site.
Central Province police commissioner Lombe Kamukoshi said on Wednesday in Kabwe that Matambalika is in police custody at Kasanda Police Station.
“A burial site or a gravesite is a sacred place and to find somebody exhuming human remains who is not a pathologist is shocking and it is very superstitious,” Ms Kamukoshi said.
She said the suspect has been charged with trespassing on a burial place contrary to Section 130 chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.
An eye-witness, Mabvuto Zulu, told KNC Radio station that he apprehended Matambalika when he found him putting soil in the grave.
Mr Zulu said the suspect was tampering with the grave in which his grandson was buried.
He said the suspect was apprehended as he tried to flee on a bicycle and was taken to Kasanda Police Station.

The upnd force me to get paid. My contract should be remunerated. However I personally refuse to get paid to make my country better. So the upnd phone I use is already topped up including this latest ipad which my son taught me to use. Stay strong. Do not worry about me. Worry about your failures aa pf
