The Zambia Association of Manufacturers (ZAM) says output in the manufacturing industry has in the last six months reduced by between 40% and 70% due to load shedding.
ZAM Chief Executive Officer Maybin Nsupila says production by manufacturing companies is now between 30% and 60%.
He says the loss in production hours has mainly been due to load shedding as well as the continued depreciation of the Kwacha.
Mr. Nsupila says the manufacturing industry has seen a sharp rise in operating costs related to the increased running costs of the equipment as a result of the use of fuels in production.
Mr. Nsupila adds that manufacturing companies are barely surviving and are struggling to withstand competition from foreign manufacturers.

And then some idiots will say ati am still voting lungu. Ati it is the opposition leading to our suffering. Only fools look for blame in others when they fail. The pf has failed lamentably and it is a disaster. Surely imwe a country like zambia which has abundant solar energy and water should be suffering from load shedding? Zambia has been and is being ruled by idiots. Can we break away from this stupid cycle of voting in idiots by voting in upnd in 2016 and saving this country

Am sure your boss is also an idiot cause he was asked, how long it will take him to solve the problems and his answer was five years and pf has only ruled for less than five years so mind the way you talk.

Difference between how long it will take you to solve problems and actually lamentably leading to worse off conditions than you found. Zambia is experiencing its worse economic conditions in history and you sit there warming your chair saying nyo nyo nyo. you fool!
