Use the Weekend to Reflect: Zambia Needs Yo

There is nothing that makes me sick than Zambians or Africans who spend most of their time complaining about what the government is doing and not doing. All of us as Zambians regardless of our status in society ought to do our part in developing our communities and the country as a whole. Don’t wait for handouts but see what you can do.
I think the biggest problem we now face is that everyone thinks they are political, economic, sports or development analysts and experts. Social media has contribute to this. We spend more time criticising the government than criticising ourselves as individuals. Reflecting on how we can do in our individual capacity. But alas! We are Individuals who always want to be spoon fed. Individuals who always blame our lack of progress in life on the government.
I know the government has to provide a platform for us as individuals. But I also feel if you are lazy you are lazy no matter what the states does for its people or for you. Government is not a babysitter and I have said that many times. They are just facilitators. But as I said no matter what they do when you are lazy you are lazy. This can be seen from even our brothers, sisters, nieces or relatives that for some, laziness is just self made. That’s why that politician, that pastor or that friend is going to take advantage of them or you. There are people who are selfish in our country that they will take advantage of you. How does this come to be? You may ask. It is easy. People see how desperate you are. They see that you love or like handouts. You long for others to do things for you. You just wait to be spoon fed.
I don’t care where you are. You may be in Zambia, within Africa. You may be in Europe, North or South America. Maybe you are in Asia. For me what is important is for you to take a moment and reflect on what you can do for your country. For Zambia, for Africa. Don’t just spend time criticising the government at home if you are abroad. I know plane tickets are expensive they will be elections next year. If you can go back home and register as a voter do that. Also instead of just making noise about the challenges back home lets hear your good ideas about how we can face and solve these challenges.
We have heard a lot of negatives about our countries from western media houses. We know you have been abroad for sometime. Thinking and discrediting your country does not make you English, Italian, South African or Japanese. You are still a Zambian and Zambia needs you. If you have changed your citizenship and all you do is dishonour or want to show that you are more concerned abut our problems yet you don’t offer any solution or you are not going to take part in elections next year. Sir, madame shut up.
For those people who are at home. As an individual try to reflect on this too. How come other people are doing it and I am not? We are all facing the same challenges and others are making it and you are static-in the mud. Maybe you too should reflect and review your role as an individual in your personal capacity. Your role as an individual in your family, community or country. We have only one Zambia and we have only one Nation. That nation needs hard working people. Move and lets build our country. It is only when we are successful as individuals that we can do it as a nation.
Don’t you feel embarrassed that non- Zambians from different walks of life make it within a short time they are in the country. Are they the only lucky ones? Are they the only smart ones? No, my dear. We are all smart in our own right. The problem is others choose to be lazy and just wait for others to give them things. Others wait for that imaginary saviour. Zambia needs no saviour. What Zambia or Africa needs is citizens who are ready to work hard no matter the challenges.
Let me tell you something. There is no President, Minster or Member of Parliament who is going to come and give you free food in your house. No leader is going to come and say. Hey Joe. Here is a house for you. Or hey Mwansa can I clean your back yard or the rubbish in your neighbourhood. If someone tells you that they will do it. Such people think you are stupid or a fool and a lazy bone that can be taken advantage of.
So I challenge you to reflect about what you ought to do for yourself, family, community and country. Just to echo what Dr Martin Luther King said some time back. Don’t always think about what the government or the community can do for you. But what you can do for your country wherever you are.
Have a great weekend
Joe Mwansa Lombe Kaluba

Let people speak its a free Zambia! Do not insult and depise people when they speak e,g about jobs in their country. You are no more patriotic if your fortunes are better than you neibours. Many Zambia are not lazy its just that opportunities are just not there. It the duty of any government to help and support citizenry to engage in gainful employment.

They told us to go for prayers in order to solve the problems. We followed and did as they said. What more does the pf want. Why can’t they accept failure

Well said Joe. Everyone’s participation in developing this wonderful Zambia is required. Just mere talking and arguing will not help. Instead, we will actually just be taking steps backwards and wasting precious time.

Most Zambians are problems insted of being solutions. Those with money which can help the poor want political powers before hrlping and those with political powers want money first. Its like every zambian is comfused. Lets change and start thinking. Why should our economy be this power when we have pipo with money and so many educated zambians?

Point of correction bo muyunda, Zambians are not the problem, but the people with mantras lik sela tutombeko or sole tubombeko, any solutions from opposition leaders are discard and these leaders are told by the same pf cadres that there is only one president at a time.you need solutions ba pf, we got a lot in our quiver, but first look at those solutions you have discarded before, they are still applicable, it’s not too late.

Great u are man.am very inpressed with your thinking those are brains we want not politicking every time.i challenge every person who says we want government to do something for us and the question is who is the government? Take a deep breath and think about it.no one can develop your country from out side it has to start with us the citizens who are the owners of this country.we need each other to build this country it being in opposition or rulling party after all its one zambia one nation.

No I will say the opposite, if we need to be overworking ourselves what will the Govt be doing? Why do we vote them in power is it not that we believe they are capable of leading our country forward? Say we all busy hard working citizens then we have leaders like bena Kambwili balenyopolafye… no no no a hard working Govt should be an inspiration to us citizens. What Martin Luther King said was all patriotism when US was in recession and busy with world wars. Zambia is not at war but has leaders mismanaged it’s natural resources and the economy.

look aIts not lungu and PF but our nature as Zambians. WE ARE SEEING REAL EXPLOITATION OF MAN BY MAN IN THE NAME OF POLITICS AND BUSINESS. Look at the behaviour of millers and trandporters. The govt banned importation of oil to protect local industries what do we see in return ? Total exploitation of Zambians. Imagine Zambia daily mail failure to produce enuf papers today

Judge Joe Bidden you are spot on.We Zambians are not lazy at all.We are hard working, and a lot of people out there are actually self employed and are struggling to hit the mark.Getting loans to finance a business run by a local entrepreneur is hard..Government should inspire, facilitate, and provide a sense of security and sustainability to local peoples entrepreneurship and their investments and not to frustrate hardworking peoples efforts and initiative
