MILLERS Association of Zambia (MAZ) chairperson Allan Sakala has resigned from his position.
Mr Sakala resigned on Monday and declined to give reasons for his resignation.
He also said matters concerning the association must be channelled to the MAZ executive director Harrison Banda.
Mr Sakala thanked members of the association for their support during his time as chairperson.
Mr Banda has confirmed Mr Sakala’s resignation.
He said Mr Sakala was instrumental in negotiating with Government for the release of cheaper maize from the Food Reserve Agency to millers in a deal aimed at keeping mealie prices low.

I can also resign to keep my integrity mwe, sure whose in right thinking in his up head can be in high office of sector where a staple food is too far expensive than imported grains. How do you justify your self to the public on that, a bag of meal meal should not exceed k50 that’s a staple food locally produced. Stupid government officials are sitted waiting free meal meal, who thought a bag of cement can be sold at k50 by dagote and still make huge profit, now what of a 25kg of meal meal of locally produced?? I think we have failed to govern ourselves left the whites come back and rule us. Vote colonialism for better zambia….

Simple- it is a political weapon. Also cheaper Unga attracts smuggling by ZP officers and create a shortage.
