UPND And FDD Addicted To Losing-Parties Run Like Tea/Tuck-Shops
It is said that failing to plan is planing to fail. At individual level one has to work hard in order to get what they long for. It is your life so when you reach a certain age you ought to move your pieces on that chess board. We have different abilities and opportunities but life doesn’t know that. Hence, we have to move and focus. I can term this a personal component. However when you are more than one. You become a team-a team needing each member to succeed. You may be a sports team, family, religious organisations, co-operatives or political grouping.
Despite having different missions, the goal is to win and not to lose. When it comes to politics, a party must play it smart in order to win or see that mission accomplished. This means all party members and supporters regardless of position and status must work hard to see that come to pass. Nevertheless, if people of the said group don’t work or market their party in a proper manner such a group will never achieve their goal. I have seen groups and parties fail to win not only because of strategies but because of disunite and due to luck of a proper collective objective.
It is team work that made us as Zambians (to) gain that independence from the British. Working as one people wanting multi-party democracy made us stand for that cause regardless of tribe, race, belief or sex. The reintroduction of multi-party politics meant that more people and parties entered politics. Entering politics meant one elected or chose to work with others to win and later serve.
After beating the once powerful United National Independence Party(UNIP), the Movement for Multi-party Democracy(MMD) stayed in power for those 20 years because they worked as a team. In those 20 years no team could match them. Parties were formed, pacts were made it all came to nothing because MMD was more organised than any party or pact. It is that organisation that made them win elections and stay in power.
When the Patriotic Front(PF) was formed it was just the Michael Sata ideas and ideals. Late President Sata shared his ideals with others. From 2001 with the help of people like Guy Scott and others, PF sold these ideas and ideals and the family grow. The Pabwato (on the boat) was the talk of the time in 2011. PF was no match to any other party. Even the once might MMD including the United Party for National Development(UPND) which was formed before PF was born and the Forum for Democracy and Development(FDD) which had more MPs than PF 10 years down the line.
What is my point here? In politics in order to win one has to be part of the team. Individual ideas must be shared with others. If you have a plan put it on the table for others to panel beat it. If you focus on individual ideologies thinking you will win elections- it is mission impossible. If you think a tribe, region or group of people will win you elections. That is like running away from your own shadow.
Parties like FDD or UPND should ask themselves questions. Why do we keep on losing? Are the people leading us up to modern democracy or politics?Sometimes I think people like Hakainde Hichilema(HH) and Edith Nawakwi just wake up and say today I am going to hold a press briefing or I am going to make a donation to a women’s group. Without question others just follow. Members and supporters of these parties should know that this will have them support or back a losing party for many years to come. People should know and buy the ideas of a political party before they buy the individual or were he comes from. If the people buy the party and the individual at the same time even better. The other things are just supplements.
I am saying so because sometimes one may think HH is UPND and UPND is HH or Nawakwi is FDD and FDD is Nawakwi. The two do things as individuals but want it to sound like a group idea or activity. Why is that we don’t hear about other party members but only one or two. All programmes in UPND are centred on HH like it is a business. UPND will keep on losing elections because it is not seen as a party which has a team character. Suppose HH won the elections in January who was he going to make government with? Who was going to run provincial offices? This also goes for Nawakwi. You want to hear about FDD it is Nawakwi who speaks. Who are the other members. Guys you don’t run farms or Itikati(Tuck shop). You are running political parties.
Many times when I hear or read what HH says or does I sometimes say. I think this man is a fan of losing. He makes so many political mistakes that you even pity the people who support him. The mistakes which I once called own goals just keep on coming. If politics were football I wouldn’t like HH to be a defender in my team. He takes things very personal. As I alluded to above, politics is all about team work. But you don’t see that in UPND and FDD.
The way I see it is that the MPs UPND has are content with being MPs so what ever the case they know they will win in the so called stronghold as they call it. As for me it is not a strong hold. People vote for them because they are from there and the leader of the party is from there. Full stop. This is because UPND is based on an individual who(m) people don’t know how to sell in other places because his party does not know what he will do next or where he is heading to next. Or what negative things he will say about Zambia.
I have being following social media politics both in Zambia and in other countries for a long time now. I don’t know if I am the only one who has seen this. For the first time most UPND supporters on social media look a bit lost and confused. They say things about HH and he does something else. When he says something they support him nonetheless.
About a month or so ago HH said that he was going to bring back Anglo- American mining to help run mines in Zambia. However, a few days ago Anglo American chief executive, Mark Cutifani, said that the company planned to sell or close more of its mines worldwide and plans to cut 85,000 job globally. So if you a UPND supporter you should be like. Mmmm okay, I didn’t see this coming. Ooops!! This is what I am talking about. Let or make your ideas and views known to the people. You are in a team. Maybe if your leader had advisers they would have told him about it. Oh wait. He has William Band and GBM. I am sure they know what Anglo American is.
I really have sympathy for UPND supporters; Imagine working tirelessly campaigning for your leader but he keeps on de-campaigning himself. Anyway. Agony is supporting HH when he has a plan of wanting to lose every time there are elections. The man is allergic to winning
Have a good weekend.

Very pathetic pf cadre. The goal is not to win but to serve zambians and while in opposition fight for their rights through checks and balances. This is one of reasons zambians are voting out pf because pf thought that the goal was to win and fatten themselves at expense of poor Zambians. Good luck in 2016. Vote upnd

Didn’t PF win by the smallest of margins when the economy had not yet collapsed before the price of ubunga , umukate, beef, na sugar had reached Zimbabwe price levels of uncontrolled inflation?
Unless the madness that Mugabe has cast on the incredulous Zimbabweans takes over here, PF will lose soundly!

I am not concerned with article but I am worried with utterances from some managers on the copperbelt concerning the current selectricity situation. From this it appears some people know more about this load shedding. And they are from one tribe.

By and large, the article is objective and advisory. Secondly, it is not just a matter of opposing any idea that touches your leader. Sometimes it is a noble thing to be above non-entity issues. There is a bunch of bloggers who are just agitated once the hear the name of their party or leader. This is childish.
No wonder some parties will always be in opposition in the name of check and balances. Living on wishes and walking the corridors of Plot 1 in dreams. Some will always be returning to the drawing boards until the boards are eroded. Socrates once said “UNEXAMINED LIFE IS NOT WORTHY LIVING”. Which part of the coin are you on in politics? Complainant? Born to be led? You may be supporting a Humpty Dumpty Candidate of a Politician. Cadre? The answer is in your hands. A Dios!

adios kwisa iwe. Can you stand up in front of your children and wife and tell them honestly that you are happy with the way things are under pf? Can you surely be proud of the economic downturn we have witnessed? The load shedding and also the abuse of the law to restrict peoples rights and freedoms? Please do not be so emotional over silly things.
