Last night Zambia went into darkness after the whole country experienced power outages except for Southern province and Western province which are powered by the Victoria Falls according to Energy Minister Dora Siliya. Shortly after the power outage she wrote on her facebook page:
“I wish to confirm that all parts of the country off electricity power supply except for Southern and Western provinces supplied by Victoria falls station.
The cause at the moment is unknown but it implies a fault at Kariba and kafue which supply the provinces affected.
Will update as soon as I can”

Good morning Ba Dora,
Please keep us updated now since its morning. Or we need to get all Ba chakolwa to go urinate into Kariba? Failed to work because of this. You can’t plan nowadays
Judge Joe Bidden
December 23, 2015 at 7:20 am
And no official apology? Even if Zambians are used to these kind of power failures they still deserve an apology because you have no idea what damage has been caused by that power outage. Writing on her Facebook page like it’s a post to her followers Dora need to take such things seriously not behaving like business as usual.

calm down people, government does not control zesco, its a separate entity even though it too needs a helping hand, the people who should update us is ba zesco of what went wrong, never the less our government is building a brand new dam effective 2016,yes thats what i said BRAND NEW DAM..it will also b setting up a solar power plant, it will also b xpanding the coal power plant in maamba, for the maamba project i believe the work is already in process,by the time our government puts its tools down to give powers to narep it would have by then, accomplished roads with complete lighting, zero load shedding, medication in hospital sector which would mean a lot of bad doctorz wil b aprehended for stealing meds for resale in chemists, new schools, power plantation, easy trade of fuel supply, kwacha being almost resistant to exchange rates, more mealing plants for competitions sake and so much more,so guys find somthng to cry faul about, not these baby cries ati apologise

Ulasabaila mwa? You paint such a rosy Utopian Zambia where milk and honey will flow into Kariba Dam. My man THIS Govt can’t and will never achieve all these aforementioned goodies which has failed in last 4 years. So in the remaining 8 months to closing PF Govt shop, Edgar should just start winding up what Sata left in pipeline, we will pick it from there next year. Edgar is a good chap but not as a Republican President, nope it’s not in him just too clueless on how to manage a country.

They can call experts ASAP to fix our power stations, using money from the many loans they have gotten or even get another one specifically for the power problem. They can stop misusing the money in less priority areas and sort out the power as this negates on production.
Judge Joe Bidden
December 23, 2015 at 11:45 am
Good points right there. In the same vein how did they pick on getting billions of loans to mend potholes in Copperbelt than finding an emergency fix for power supply? Because the same power can help revive the economy, get income, stabilise the industries and pay back the loan. That’s when you can see it’s all campaign in CB.

Upnd chaps are all up in arms ululating over the power blackout. Typical of cry babies who feels relieved whenever this government faces unforeseen Challenges. But let me remind you good for nothing chaps. We are in government to solt out challenges facing us and all our people in this country, we shall never run away from Challenges like you. Who are waiting to form government and God knows when. But you’re failing to take a leaf from comrade J Malema the EFF president in South Africa the way he has conducted is politics in that country. He has tried to push a lot of Changes, which in turn has helped the poor in that country. But for you Chaps you are just waiting to form your pipe dream government.

Apology has been already be made by both ZESCO (Henry Kapata) and energy minister (Madam Siliya) of the working government. Just wait for the main news at 19:00 hrs when most Zambians get glued to TV will listen to the profound apology. Unlike those 2-4 chaps assigned to postings on social media 24/7 hrs awaiting for apology trying to make a mountain from anthill.
Judge Joe Bidden
December 23, 2015 at 10:15 am
Apologies or not we are used that won’t feed our kids. But rushing to Facebook to address a problem like this is just blunt foolishness. Ask yourself how many outages have we experienced as a country this year? Do you know what impact that is on our national security you are lucky we are not Kenya otherwise Al Shabub militants would have wiped out your arses in masses. You chaps take power outage lightly just like your leaders.

You seem to know well that power outrage is not new to you then why making it like a big issue?
Do you want her make an apology on social media directly to you alone? That’s nonsense when the working government knows well time people get glued to TV and listen to main news at 19:00 hrs.

Judge Joe Bidden
December 23, 2015 at 11:12 am
The PF Govt is our threat to peace my friend a dark country is a sitting duck in a swamp full of ugly predators. Zambia’s enemies and criminals can capitalise and thrive easily when the country is always in darkness. Can you imagine a plane carrying 150 people including investors descending to land at the international airport power goes and generator fails to kick in and all they see is total darkness? If you know aerodynamics and mechanics a plane with 150 peopke aboard to regain thrust to propel it back to air is almost impossible less than 500m above ground that’s an eminent disaster to put Zambia on global aviation map as a no go zone. Come for classes…

@ judge joe im impressed with how u are up to date with 2016 elections,u pointed out the 8months count down but its disturbing for me to believe in the past 4years pf has faild, faild what exactly? to turn znbc analogue to digital olo shani,i kind of feel ur sentence is pending,it is very much helpful if u show us really where the government has faild so we can too see what u see and maybe if its reasonable enough the government will tuckle it down, did u kno retired government works are now recieving their earned pensionz, ofcourse the government faild to give them everythng at once because the money owed to them was too much so every month the government is giving them something, enough to buy a bus or build a chicken run,its monthly until what they are owed will be paid,if this government cared less it could have used that same money to buy range roverz for members of parliament, instead it thought of the old and weak who have contributed to zambia, guys HARDER NABENA..2016 looks way too easy

Look if I was a lecturer and PF Govt was in my class I would give it 25% for this exam, why? There were 5 questions and all didn’t have the same marks, it attempted all 5 questions and got almost max marks in 2 questions. I.e. Attempt on Constitution Amendment *tick* Continuation on Sata’s projects *tick* But failed to give correct answers in Question 3 on Diversification of Zambian economy thru Agriculture particularly farming inputs, subsidies, national food security and export. Question 4 it got zero in both micro and macro Economics especially in areas of mining, FDI, currency stabilising, safe guarding of employment for citizens, youth empowerment. Question 5 the Govt just attempted but failed in the energy sector I think it ran out of time. Unfortunately Questions 3,4 and 5 had a total of 60%. So no need for supplementary Exam next yr 2016, it has failed dismally.

shadreck thats good of u to suggest solar panels, but its usualy too costly to buy for a common zambian never the less they say great minds think alike so shad u must b a great thinker because what u propose is what will be worked on in 2016 and beyond,if u had followd the press briefing of edgar he entends to build different power sources and yes solar is one of them, its either they will build one huge solar power generator or they will build in different places around the country so it works with nearby communities, what ever the government will choose its up to them but we will have solar real soon, for now lets just work hard, every effort counts and remember pf is entitld to 3terms of office, one down 2 to go,all wil b well
