Chipata Cops Nab 3 Suspected Maize Thieves

POLICE in Chipata have arrested an officer from the Ministry of Community Development and two taxi drivers in connection with the theft of 65 bags of maize meant for vulnerable people in Chipata.
Eastern Province deputy commissioner of police Patrick Bili identified the three as Godfrey Lombe, 32, Christopher Chipasha, 29, and Timothy Zimba, 30, all of Chipata.
Mr Bili said in an interview in Chipata yesterday that Lombe, Chipasha and Zimba were arrested on Friday night after police received information on their activities from members of the public.
“On Friday night, our officers arrested an officer from Ministry of Community Development by the name of Christopher Chipasha and two taxi drivers for stealing maize meant for vulnerable people, which was stocked at Feni sub-centre,” Mr Bili said.
He said the three had transported the 50-kilogramme bags of maize to a neighbouring country in readiness to have them sold.
Mr Bili said the maize has been retrieved from the neighbouring country with the help of law enforcement agencies from that country.
Mr Bili said Chipasha has been charged with theft by public servant while the other two have been charged with theft.
He said the suspects are in police custody and that they will soon appear in court.

New Educated Zambia, you are not genuine in your dealings and I doubt if you have anything to say apart from attacking the government of the day. Since Zambia got independence, which government valued civil severnts and offered them better than the PF government? For example, how many teachers afford to buy cars, pay for their fees in universities, build houses etc. Let us learn to appreciate the efforts of our leaders. I doubt whether NEZ has ever found time to thank even his/her parents/gurdians for bringing him up. It is unfortunetely that such people exist in our land.

There is no need to arrest them. Just give them enough for their survival and will stop stealing.
So do not blame them, blame the pf govt.

let the republican president of the day increase salaries for the civil servants so that they reduce theft by public servant. but those 3 men should b taken to jail if found wanting by the courts of law. its stupit to steal food that z meant for vulnerable people.
