The Zambia Co-operative Federation-ZCF- has offloaded about one thousand two hundred 25 kilogram bags of Mealie-Meal in Lusaka’s Chawama Township.
ZCF Executive Director, James Chirwa says the commodity which is selling at 60 kwacha per 25 kilogram bag is meant to accord the people in the area chance to buy affordable cheap Mealie-Meal.
Mr. Chirwa told ZNBC News in Chawama today that his organisation will soon distribute cheap Mealie-Meal to other high density areas in Lusaka and other parts of the country.
He said it was unacceptable for mealie-meal to be sold above 85 kwacha per 25 kilogram bag in a country where maize production is massive compared to other parts of the Southern African region.
Mr. Chirwa said the Presidential Initiative has so far proved to be efficient in providing an alternative source of cheap mealie-meal for the people.
And most people talked to praised President Edgar Lungu for introducing Solar Milling plants which are offloading cheaper mealie-meal.

Good move Mr President. ZCF should have outlets through out Zambia selling mealie meal. It will greatly help alot of Zambians to access affordable mealie meal which is a staple food in mother Zambia.
