LUSAKA High Court judge Getrude Chawatama has sentenced a police officer to death for killing his father-in-law and attempting to murder his wife.
It was alleged that Sekelani Ngulube on November 4, 2007 in Lusaka murdered George Sinyama, while count two alleged that he attempted to kill his wife, Finola.
Ngulube pleaded not guilty but 12 witnesses testified against him.
Alice Mundia Sinyama, the deceased’s widow, testified that Ngulube and her daughter had marital problems and the deceased tried to intervene.
She said on the material day, she heard five gunshots fired by Ngulube in Olympia Park where she had gone and that when she peeped through the window, she saw Sinyama lying down.
Alice said when she went towards her husband and lifted him, she discovered that his face was split into two.

Heartless cop, the sentence is befitting indeed.
