HH Arrest Attracts America’s Attention

The United States government says it is concerned with the heightened political tension in Zambia, two days after the arrest of opposition UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema.
In a brief but concise statement released by the Public Affairs Office at the United States Embassy in Lusaka today, the American government urged political actors in Zambia to exercise restraint in addressing differences.
“The United States government remains concerned over heightened political tension in Zambia, specifically noting the April 10 police raid of opposition leader Hakainde Hichilema’s Lusaka residence and his subsequent arrest for treason,” read the statement in part.
“Recent events underscore the need for peaceful dialogue between the opposition and ruling party on matters of national concern.”
The American government further observed the need for respect of the rule of law in the country before it lost the reputation of political pluralism.
“The U.S. government urges all actors to exercise restraint in addressing differences, to respect the rule of law and electoral proceedings, and to follow the due process Zambians expect from a country with a reputation for political pluralism and peaceful conflict resolution,” stated the US Embassy.

Lungu knows he haw no absolute majority and your hakainde has no absolute majority. It was childish for you hakainde to behave that way in Mongu. Suck on it!

HH’s case is a very serious one and has a lot of implications.
First off, his actions as evident in that video is an attack on the supreme office of the land (Presidency) which also may expose the Presidency to outside enemy as being weak, as such the personnel handling are from the Office of the Presidency. He is considered as a threat and exposed to rigorous and intense interrogations. The officer’s by state security laws are mandated to function in that fashion in order to get to the bottom line. Moreover that HH is well informed so his actions are taken seriously.

Can someone explain this to me?? Does it mean the police didn’t have means to communicate to confirm the arrival of HH to the Arena, bcoz as long as HH didnt arrive it simply means the road was not cleared & there is no way the police who are well trained can risk the life of our President in that manner??? If HH debalitely slowed as being claimed, why didn’t the police go after him b4 releasing the presidential motorcade???? Worse still if HH was at fault why didn’t the police shot his motorcade??? This are questions which demands answers….. I’m not a lawyer but just using my own wisdom.

  19. Chityotyolo   April 17, 2017 at 5:26 pm

Was HH driving or he was being driven? In traffic regulations, who commits a traffic offence, the driver or passenger? Why arrest the passenger?

    • Dps   April 18, 2017 at 1:42 pm

What HH did was very wrong. If he is a well meaning leader as he claims, he would have instructed his driver stop and allow presidential motorcade to pass. Both HH and his drivers are wrong in this.

The world is coming to an end, people are power hungry everyone wants to be a leader.

    • ma sholi   April 18, 2017 at 7:19 am

Everyone wants to abuse the office because of three things. 1. We are still tribalistic animals 2. We are greedy animals 3. Our constitution is designed for the abusers and not to prevent abuse by grz.

  22. hn   April 18, 2017 at 7:29 am

  25. C.C   April 18, 2017 at 12:31 pm

Chityotyolo, why do you write like one who is very dull? If ba boss is being driven, who gives instruction of where to go and at what speed to move? There is no tree to hide behind from!!!!!!!! The best way to kill a monkey if you are with a dog is to cut all the tree.
