A Prophet of Lusaka’s Zani-Muone has been sued for swindling a widow 10, 000 kwacha on pretext that he would raise her husband from the dead.
Angel Sakala 36 is charged with obtaining money by false pretences.
It is alleged that Sakala between March 16 2017 and April 5 2017, with intent to deceive or defraud obtained over ten thousand Kwacha cash from Beatrice Kasonde by falsely pretending he was going to show her, her deceased husband, Kennedy Kalunga.
Sakala allegedly told Ms. Kasonde that her husband was not dead as claimed but that he was being kept by his grandmother in the corner of her house.
The man of God further told Ms. Kasonde that what they buried was actually not the body of her husband but charcoal.
Kasonde then handed over her bank card to the prophet and her pin number so that he can withdraw the money from her account to meet the expenses.
The transaction however turned sour as Sakala got Kasonde’s more than K10, 000 but her husband was not brought back to life.
Sakala is yet to take plea.
