Former Deputy Minister Alfred Ndhlovu has advised President Edgar Lungu not to allow his lieutenants (who are insisting that he stands in the 2021 polls)to spoil his legacy and respect people have bestowed on him as Republican President.
In a supersonic speed, PF Secretary General Davies Mwila moved to counter President Lungu’s statement that his term of office comes to an end in 2021 and the next President should continue engaging manufacturers who are not politicians.
Mwila said the Members of the Central Committee(MCC) resolved for President Lungu as a sole candidate for 2021 and that nothing has changed.
But Ndhlovu said President Lungu should not listen to anyone, saying he is the PF candidate for 2021.
He said announcing that his term of office comes to an end in 2021, is the the best thing that has come from President Lungu’s mouth in 2017.
“Ya, that is the best news item I have heard about our President in a very long time. Surely, he has come to terms with reality that the Constitution he signed does not allow him to run for third term. His mandate will come to an end in 2021 having served two terms. In fact, in reality, his mandate came to an end when the Referendum on the Bill of Rights flopped,” Ndhlovu said.
He said with this announcement, President Edgar Lungu should begin preparing his exit plans while Zambians should start the hunt for the next leader who will see them beyond 2021.
He said it could be Hakainde Hichilema or any other individual who will rule Zambia beyond 2021.
“It could not even be HH. It can be any other Zambian who is not in active politics. Zambians must asses whom they feel can lead them to prosperity. From poverty to prosperity. That is a leader the country is looking for,” Ndhlovu said.
