United Party for National Development (UPND) 2016 Munali Constituency Candidate Doreen Mwamba says she is waiting patiently for the Constitutional Court to allocate the date for the case in which Patriotic Front (PF) candidate Nkandu Luo has appealed the High Court decision to nullify her seat.

The High Court nullified Luo’s elections on grounds that electoral malpractice existed in the elections.

However, Luo challenged the High Court decision in the Constitutional Court but no date has been given to the case.

Luo continues occupying the seat, raising concerns among the UPND faithful who feel the system is favouring the Higher Education Minister.

When reached for a comment, Mwamba said she is waiting patiently for justice to be done.

She said if Luo’s conscious serves her right, then she is aware that she is occupying the seat illegally.

Ms Mwamba said she is happy that she delivered victory for the party in Munali Constituency, as the high court ruling when  nullifying Luo’s elections was very clear.

“I am happy that I delivered victory for the UPND and Hakainde Hichilema in the last elections. I am Member of Parliament for Munali Constituency and madam Luo is just  warming the seat for me. I will get there in parliament and represent my people accordingly,” she said, “The Judge was very clear when nullifying the seat that there was electoral malpractice and most importantly, Luo, like many other PF Ministers did not step aside when parliament was dissolved. They abused government resources in the campaigns. In reality, I was disadvantaged because I was contesting against  a person with State machinery on her disposal.”

Mwamba expressed regrets that Luo has failed to impress the people of Munali Constituency since coming to office illegally.

She regretted that Luo has failed to maintain the University of Zambia which is in her constituency despite being a graduate of that learning institution.

“What has madam Luo done for the people of Munali since her disputed election? Look at the state of the University which is in Munali Constituency and under Luo’s Ministry. I am very disappointed, being  a former graduate of that institution, she is supposed to maintain it,” Mwamba who is daughter to UPND Vice President Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba said.
