The Bemba saying that states’ inganda ba yi kumbwa umutenge’ perfectly applies to the the Bank of Zambia situation. It is every ones dream to work for BOZ but a nightmare for most of them in the boat. It is place for the survival of the fittest.
The unprofessional working culture and petty politics leaves much to be desired. People literally have to back stab each other or bootlick to get favours from superiors.
Despite having rules and regulations in place, the goal post is positioned only for the favoured to score. If players fall in the unfavoured category, scoring will be impossible as the goal post will be moved despite the hard work.
Decisons are objective for the unfavoured and subjective for the favoured. Simply put, the favoured get anything they want despite rules and regulations in place. The favoured are the boot leakers, back stabbers and those with ‘influent ‘ connections. If you are a mere ‘Phiri ‘ with no influent connections, you have to back stab others or boot leg to get favours.
This is a highly respected institution with very educated man power in society but the pity politics and unprofessional working culture leaves much to be desired. It is high time this vice is stopped for the sanity of all employees.
