Former Zanaco Football Player Moses Mumba popularly known as big Moze has called on the Football Association of Zambia(FAZ) to beef-up the technical bench with an expatriate coach.
And Big Moze has advised footballers to invest in property and not liability if they do not want to lead miserable lifestyles when they retire from the active sport.
Big Moze says there is need for FAZ to hire an expatriate coach if Zambia is to make a maiden appearance at the World Cup.
He said examples can be drawn from the 2012 when Zambia won the Africa Cup at the tutorage of Frenchman Hervey Renard.
“The Zambia National Team have a lot of potential. The onus is on Football House to hire an expatriate to qualify the team to the 2022 World Cup,” he stressed.
Asked to clarify if he meant getting rid of Coach Wedson Nyirenda and replace him with a foreigner, Big Moze said: ” I am not saying Wada should be fired. The man has done a great job so far . What I am saying is that there is need to strengthen the technical team with an experienced expatriate coach. That is what I am saying.” .
The former Zanaco player regretted that complacency has always hindered the Chipolopolo team from winning major games.
He said the team fails to hold on when it is leading. The boys fail to implore delaying tactics and in the end concede late goals as the case was recently when they gave up their 2-1 lead in the dying minutes of the game.
“You find that when our friends from Arabic African Countries are leading, they start falling over and doing all sorts of delaying tactics. They are unlike us who play football from the first to the 90th minute,” he said.
Big Moze urged the technical to consult from old players like him if Zambian football is to move to another level.
Zambia has never qualified to the World Cup since its inception.
Meanwhile, Big Moze has called on players to invest in property and not liability while they are still in the prime of their careers.
He said footballers should be mindful that football is a very sport, so it is important that they plan their retirement to avoid living in poverty.
“Players should not invest in posh cars. They have to buy property as I did when I bought a building at Kamwala Trading Area. I also bought houses so I can safely say my future is secured,” he said.
Renard is just a luck person not a good coach. In my view Ivory Coast were a a stronger side when they played the deciding final game, after the game I really thought there must have been some behind the scenes at play in the Ivory Coast camp, and indeed there was talk of how easily the Ivory Coast goalkeeper let in those two goals, and the pedestrian defenders! Bribery can not be ruled out! Renard failed to qualify us for the 2014 world cup hence he dumped us after he saw no light at end of the tunnel! 2012 Africa cup team was nurtured by Bonnetti, Renard just found himself in the right place at the correct time! Renard has been to Europe two times as coach and came back a faluire! Come 2018 Russia world cip Morocco will come back after first round!
