Mandevu lawmaker Jean Kapata has announced that Lusaka province has run out of land.
“I want to be on record; Lusaka has no land. We have run out of land. I’m talking about Lusaka, Chongwe, Chisamba, Chilanga, Kafue.. But we have a lot of land in the outskirts, in (other) provinces. And it looks like everyone want to be in town. As minister I have declared there is no land,” she said
The minister sounded a warning to councils in the province with a tendency of creating land where there are active service lines.
“I have given a warning to the councils to stop creating land. This is where you find someone is given land in the road reserve, under electricity pylons or on top of a sewer line. Being a vicious minister that I am if i find such a situation we will demolish because it hinders progress and the people who depend on the sewer line will be affected,” said the minister.
