If you are a bookstore, library owner or plain lover of modern Zambian contemporary history, there is good news for you this Christmas as the best performing local book based on President Edgar Lungu goes on 50 percent sale.
The is according to advertisements running in the Zambia Daily Mail stipulating that Against all Odds, Zambia’s President Edgar Chagwa Lungu’s Rough Journey to State House is now (for a limited time) selling at a half price of K75 instead of K150.
“Visit any of the Zambia Daily Mail offices country-wide and get yourself a copy of this amazing book,” the advert states.
The political thriller became and instant hit when it was released at the beginning of the year on more tan 70,000 online bookstores including Barnes & Noble and Amazon by award winning author and senior diplomat Anthony Mukwita.
Bookworld, Zambia’s biggest and oldest bookstore in Zambia sold about 1000 copies of the book in less than three months starting in March 2017 making it the biggest selling book since they started keeping records.
In September, the University of Zambia and Mulungushi Universities became the first higher institutions of learning in Zambia to stock the book in their libraries, both getting 600 books each.
The publishers feel that there is not going to be better literature present than the Edgar Lungu book that reveals how a humble but tenacious man from Chimwemwe proved the opposition wrong after they miscalculated him for a political tyro.
It is also ‘a bookstore owners dream’ and time to cash in according to the distributors, the Zambia Daily Mail, Zambia’s largest selling newspaper.
The Edgar Lungu book has continued to simulate interest and debate against all odds in Zambia.
