Zambian DNA is appalled that some section of society is condemning President Edgar Lungu’s move to fire National Planning and Development Minister Lucky Mulusa.
However, President Lungu acted in the interest of the nation when he fired Mulusa and within the ambit of the powers vested in him in Article 92(2) and 116.
President Lungu wields powers to hire and fire ministers that cannot be questioned by anyone.
Further, the President is not under obligation to give reasons why he either hired or fired the Minister.
Therefore, President Lungu’s critics are offside to insinuate that the Head of State‘s move to fire Mulusa was wrong or in bad faith.
It’s also a misconception to assume that the departure of one person from Government would grind its operations to a halt.
However, the country is endowed with abundant human resource the President can always tap from.
We advise those opposing President Lungu’s decision to fire Mulusa to read the Constitution for them to appreciate his decision.
As for Mulusa‘s conduct, after being kicked out of Government, will determine how relevant he will remain to the Zambian politics.
We are confident that he will not follow the footsteps of disgruntled politicians, who often offload vital Government information to the public, to vent out his frustrations after being fired from Government.
However, we urge Zambians to ignore the ranting of this clique of people whose agenda is to criticize everything President Lungu does for political expedience.
