Annual Rate Of Inflation Drops

The annual rate of inflation for the month of December 2017 has reduced to 6.1 percent as compared to 6.3 percent recorded in November 2017.

Addressing the press at the Central Statistical Office monthly bulletin presentation, CSO Director of Census and Statistics, John Kalumbi said the reduction has been attributed to the steadily increase trend in the prices of goods and commodities between December 2016 to December 2017.

Meanwhile, Zambia’s international merchandise trade has recorded a surplus of over k400 million in November 2017 from a deficit of k885 million recorded in October this year.

Mr Kalumbi explained that this is because the country exported more in November than it imported in nominal terms.
