Calls for President Edgar Lungu to step-down by some political activists are meant to divert his focus from national issues such as the escalating cholera, which has claimed many lives.
However, the alleged corruption, bad governance and involvement in the illegal export of Mukula tree logs issues advanced as grounds for President Lungu to cut his five-year term short, and call for early polls are not only unfounded, frivolous, but also baseless and malicious.
Further, President Lungu has been a champion of the fight against corruption ever since he was first elected in 2015.
President Lungu was re-elected in 2016 polls as Republican President for a five-year term, which expires in 2021.
