A 15-YEAR-OLD boy has pleaded guilty to one count of defilement in the Chipata Magistrates’ Court.
The juvenile who appeared before principal resident magistrate Jennifer Bwalya is alleged to have had carnal knowledge of a minor on December 26, 2017.
When asked by magistrate Bwalya whether he knew that the girl was below the age of 16, the juvenile stated that he knew because of the height.
After recording a plea of guilty, magistrate Bwalya adjourned the matter to January 11 for presentation of facts and social welfare report.
Public Prosecutor Justin Zyambo said the boy would remain in custody.
In a related development, a 14-year-old boy also pleaded guilty to one count of theft.
The boy stole a radiator, wheel drum and other vehicle parts valued at K2,002.
When asked what he wanted to do with the stolen items, the juvenile said he wanted to sell them.
Magistrate Bwalya adjourned the matter to January 11, 2018 for presentation of written facts and social welfare report.
