President Edgar Lungu‘s renewed vigour to fight child marriages and early pregnancies is highly commendable.
Indeed, Child marriages ruin the future of our children who would have been contributing to the country’s development.
Similarly, early pregnancies force our children out of school thus robbing them the prospect of a bright future.
President Lungu, who is a global champion against child marriages, has re-affirmed his tacit commitment to fight and eradicate child marriages as well as early pregnancies, which are currently robbing the country of the much-needed human resources.
Zambian DNA fully backs the Head of State’s desire to rid the country of these vices, and provide them with proper health and education services.
We are also alive to the fact that President Lungu‘s administration through relevant ministries is working round the clock to address the plight of the girl child in both urban and rural areas.
However, we expect various stakeholders such as parents, traditional leaders, Members of Parliament (MPs), the Church, area councilors, civil societies and interest groups to partner with Government in the fight to end child marriages and early pregnancies.
