A 24-YEAR-OLD Lusaka man identified as Jeremiah Daka has allegedly murdered his wife in Chibolya compound.

According to Zambia Police public relations officer Esther Mwaata Katongo, Daka beat and strangled his wife, Juliet, to death.

She stated that the incident happened in the early hours of Thursday around 04:00 hours.

“Chibolya Police in Lusaka received a report of murder involving Juliet Daka aged 18, who was allegedly murdered by her husband. The report was made by the landlord of the couple in the company of neighbours,” Katongo stated.

“Brief facts are that neighbours heard the couple fight in the early hours of [Thursday] and shortly after, there was silence. They then heard the suspect, who is the husband, shouting for help that they had been attacked by criminals. When neighbours went to check on what was happening, they found the victim lying on the bed lifeless and that was how they together with the husband took the victim to the Hospital where she was pronounced dead.”

She stated that the suspect was in police custody while the body of the deceased had been deposited in the University Teaching Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.

“It is suspected that the deceased was beaten and strangled to death by her husband identified as Jeremiah Daka aged 24 years who later went out and screamed for help,” stated Katongo.
