Zambia Airports Hands Over Sanitary Pads

Zambia Airports Corporation Limited have expressed concern that a lot of girls miss school because they lack access to sanitary towels.

Brand Manager Mweembe Sikaulu says it is unfortunate that underprivileged girls are forced to miss school due to a  natural female experience.

Miss Sikaulu said it is for this reason that her company is partnering with organisations such as Lusaka Global Shapers Community to help vulnerable girls cope with this experience.

She was speaking when she handed over sanitary towels worth 10,000 Kwacha which will benefit 340 under privileged girls in vulnerable communities in Lusaka.

And Lusaka Global Sharpers representative Kekayi Fundafunda said her organisation has initiated the menstruation matters project which is aimed at solving the problem of menstrual hygiene among school girls in urban, peri urban and rural areas in Zambia.

Ms Fundafunda said she believes that girls education performance can improve through better menstrual hygiene management in schools.

At the same occasion Lubuto Library school manager Given Besa expressed gratitude to Zambia National Airports corporation for donating the sanitary towels to her institution.
