MORE than 300 teachers have been dismissed for various offences across the country,
The Teaching Service Commission Chairperson Stanley M’hango has revealed that 324 teachers have been dismissed from the service for various offences across the country since January 2018.
The commission chairperson said 263 teachers were dismissed for having fake qualifications with Copperbelt recording the highest.
“For the famous one, forgery of qualifications, the commission has dismissed 263 teachers for either grade 12 certificate or professional certificate of which 186 were female and 81 male representing 69.2% and 30.80% respectively,” said Mr M’hango.
He said the commission was concerned that most of the culprits with fake qualifications were female.
Mr M’hango described the development as sad as it erodes the confidence that parents have in teachers.
Mr M’hango said 128 more cases of forgery would be processed by the end of the second quarter.
And Mr M’hango said 41 teachers were dismissed for absenteeism of which 33 were male and seven females.
He further said seven teachers were dismissed for having canal knowledge of pupils, with Southern Province topping the list.
Mr M’hango said six teachers were dismissed for being involved in examination malpractice while seven were dismissed for unethical conduct with Southern province on top of the list.
Heading is misleading. Southern Province is only leading where there is 7 and 6 dismissals.
Speaks volumes of one that is infused with malice and simply exposes the authors disdain for the region! What else can one say of the author when the heading in conformity with the whole story logic demands substituting ‘Southern’ with ‘Copperbelt.’ Hate, hate, hate, bwafya!
so sad
Soo sad, but going in right direction to ensure sanity, professionalism and dignity in the teaching industry
It is not correct to say, “263 teachers ‘OF WHICH’ 186 are female” when referring to human beings. The correct expression is, OF WHOM.
