A woman testified that her husband made love five times before going for work and after work but denied responsibility for her pregnancy.
This is in a case in which Anna Chisha, 28, of Soweto compound sued her husband, Mathews Chisha, 35, a tailor of Zingalume compound for reconciliation after separating for six months.
However, Chisha said that he did not want to reconcile with his wife.
The two got married in 2008 and have two children.
Anna told Senior Court Magistrates Pauline Newa and Miyanda Banda at Matero Local Court in Lusaka that since she got married Chisha has been accusing her of stealing money.
She explained that two weeks after their child died he sent her to her parents but she was shocked to find him pants down with a woman in his in-law’s house.
Anna said that they later reconciled but he never stopped accusing her of stealing money.
“When I fell pregnant, Chisha denied responsibility but he was making love to me five times, before going for work and after work. He only admitted responsibility after the baby was born,” said Anna.
In defence, Chisha maintained that Anna had been stealing money because he would give her to keep but when he wanted to use it for business, he would find a shortage.
He explained that they tried several times to resolve the matter but Anna did not change.
Chisha said that last year, he got very upset because he gave Anna money for house rentals but he was shocked to be approached by the landlord who said he owed him for three months.
“While we were waiting to sit as families to resolve the matter K500 went missing. In November 2017 when we sat I said that we have to divorce and I will just be maintaining children because I feared I can kill her,” said Chisha.
But Anna denied receiving money from Chisha saying he would send her to buy airtime so that he hides the money and that she did not know where he hid it.
The court ruled a failed reconciliation and advised that any one of them could sue for divorce.
