State Closes Its Prosecution In Prophet Amata’s Case

THE state has closed its prosecution in the case where Nigerian prophet Isaac Julius Amata is alleged to have trafficked and imported a psychotropic substances namely, 26.29 Kg of Ephedrine as the two witnesses from Nigeria and South Africa could not be availed.

When the matter came up yesterday for continuation of trial before magistrate Brian Simachela, the state told the court that the two witnesses who were supposed to testify in the case where not present and opted to close the matter.

The state said they were satisfied with the evidence that had been brought before court by other witness in the matter which could secure a conviction.

And the defence told the court that they will file in their written submission on Friday April 20 while the state will file their written submission to the court on April 25 2018.

Magistrate Simachela has warned the state not to bring excuses when their turn for submissions comes.

“I hope there will be no excuses from the state on the day of submissions,” he said.

The matter has been adjourned to April 30 2018 for ruling.
