Workers at Andrews Motel in Lusaka have downed tools demanding payment of 5 months’ salary arrears plus two gratuity leave days and public holidays accrued for over two years.
Casuals have been working for over four years without being employed. Salaries have been the same for over five years. The lowest paid employee walks home with K701 and the highest paid gets K850.
An employee who sought anonymity disclosed that reports have been made to the Labour office but as usual, no step has been made, its fellow Zambians killing their fellows.
The Workers were by press time waiting for the owner of Andrews Motel to address them.
The owner of Andrews motel is the same person who owns LAMISE investments and Lamasat.
Very sad development how do workers survive without salaries for 5 months and why are they getting below the minimum wage?
