THE PF is on a wrong highway and it is likely to ignite a civil war by being tribally selective with recruitments, charges chief Mukuni.

And chief Mukuni says the PF can’t fool the people all the time “as if we are living in the olden days where social media was absent”.

In an interview, chief Mukuni of Kazungula and Livingstone urged the PF to stop maligning people from Southern, Western, Central and North-Western provinces.

“The PF is getting Zambians into a very precarious situation by being selective when it comes to employment as we saw with the tribal pattern of the recently graduated ZNS officers…So I would like to appeal to the PF to stop being selective; they are on a wrong highway and this is likely to cause a civil war,” chief Mukuni warned.

He, however, appealed to paramount chiefs Mpezeni, Gawa Undi and Chitimukulu not to be part of the tribal selective tactics that the PF was introducing. Chief Mukuni said the traditional leaders should counsel President Edgar Lungu on the dangers of being selective when employing young people.

“I appeal to His Royal Highness Paramount chiefs Mpezeni, Gawa Undi and Chitimukulu to talk to the President because the PF listens to them more than some of us. We as traditional leaders can help bring sanity to the governance of the country. The PF is currently marginalising other tribes and it is impossible to ignore the dangerous path they are setting us on,” he said.

Chief Mukuni said if not well handled, the recruitment of selective tribes into the civil service would backfire.
“The three traditional leaders may seem to be beneficiaries now but they will soon be victims. We should not sacrifice posterity for current pleasures. The PF should know that people are watching and cannot be cheated all the time because now there is social media and people sniff out the wrong and good very fast,” said chief Mukuni.

“However, it is not the traditional leaders in Northern or Eastern province who are bad but the political leaders and until we stop this practice, we are headed for trouble.”
