The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has ruled out the possibility of halting the July 26th by-elections.
Opposition UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema recently called upon the ECZ to halt the July 26th by-elections until political party leaders agree to end political violence in the Country.
ECZ spokesperson Margaret Chimanse has told Qfm News that the commission will have to meet with all stakeholders before deciding to halt already scheduled by-elections.
She says this is in order that the Commission conducts a process that is acceptable by all stakeholders.
Ms. Chimanse states that political parties that are proposing that the July 26th by-elections be halted should in this case make submissions to the ECZ.
She says this will allow the commission to respond to their submissions formally.
