The satanism allegations made by one Clive Banda after the death of budding DJ, Caristo Chitamfya Jr who died in a road accident that some Zambian musicians are involved in and been initiated into Satanism or occultism by Prophet Andrew aka Seer1 who is also leader of CFM ministries should not be taken lightly as they have potential to break and kill the young music industry in Zambia. Those mentioned include Mampi, Slapdee and Pilato.

While the allegations made against the above artists might be untrue, the consequence of such are plain in a country that is not Christian per-se but is God conscious and has a lean towards biblical beliefs and conduct.

Firstly, a reference might be made of the fall of the career of gospel artist Jojo Mwangaza who was alleged to have been found with human body parts in 2007 and his illustrious career came to a fall and has never gotten back to its height ever since, all because he took it lightly and never bothered to clear his name of the allegations.

Secondly, such rumors have been there before but there seems to be a difference now as it involves a very famous personality In Dj Caristo Clear and a high profile public clergyman in controversial Prophet Andrew who was recently deported on criminal suspicions by the Zambian local authorities.

Thirdly, the allegations come in at a time when all pieces seem to be falling in place;

1. The strange deaths of artists in motor car accidents; Alubusu, Marvin B3, PJ (who suffered injuries and died after days) and now DJ Caristo, included is the bizarre death of Crystal Shawn who was found dead outside his gate some years ago.

2. Slapdee being at the height of his career; being the biggest award winner, more endorsements, international invitations, being the only local artist performing alongside foreign artists. Recently he had the All out for Hip Hip gig, then a gig with Nigerian Artist Patoranking, another with Mafikizolo and Fally Ipupa which was a no show on his part with the latest being the July 28th one with Nigerian artist Tekno.

-While there hasn’t been much to talk about Mampi, there seems to be everything to write about pilato’s raise to public political notice in the past two years, yes by his controversial musical productions but it could be regarded as thus.

All these may be coincidental but the Zambian man and woman is putting one and two, and making conclusions, it’s these conclusions that if not corrected may lead to utter suspicion and will lead to a fall out by fans and fellow musicians who are mostly God conscious, a fall out by radio and club Djs, a fall out by media houses and corporate companies i.e. Zambia Breweries that sponsor the biggest musical awards in the country and others that have musicians as their brand ambassadors, all to the loss of artists.

Such a fall out in the industry will have a lasting effect on; Music sales, Music performances, Radio and Club ratings. The above then affects the industry as an alternative employment base as newer and talented artists will fear to join it believing their talents won’t be enough to make them successful save they be initiated and join Satanism in it. This in turn will affect government taxes through the Zambia Association of Musicians (ZAM) and Zam-corps, it will affect revenue for artists through live performances hence increasing the already high poverty levels in the country.

While the above may be sheer allegations and the artists are free to affiliate with any church or pastor, it is imperative that ZAM addresses the issue at hand and calls the mentioned artists to clear their names for the music industry’s sake, a public statement should be given so it doesn’t turn into a Jojo Mwangaza saga.

All this is not for the aforementioned artists but the music industry as a whole.
