The Zambian DNA is saddened by the spate of fires that have gutted several markets in some parts of the country,school infrastructure in Kalulushi and a cotton plant in Mazabuka.

We sympathize with the traders and others whose livelihood has been shattered after the said inferno gutted their merchandise and property worth millions of kwacha.

However, we are alive to the fact that President Edgar Lungu has pledged to assist the affected traders by directing the relevant authorities to find alternative trading areas in the shortest possible time.

The Head of State, has also directed that investigations should be instituted immediately to establish the cause of the fires.

We appeal to the affected traders and individuals to remain calm as government addresses their plight.

We also urge all stakeholders, especially politicians not to politicize or play cheap politics with the livelihood of the affected people who have lost their property.
