Statement On Civil Society Attempt To Compromise The Credibility Of Elections

24th July,2018

The Zambian DNA condemns some Civil Society Organizations attempt to compromise the credibility of elections in Zambia by deliberately attacking institutions of governance.

The  said CSOs have attacked the Electoral Commission of Zambia, the Zambia Police Service High Command and the governing Patriotic Front, purporting that the said institutions are colluding to help the PF win the fourth coming by-elections when in-fact not.

However, the PF is popular on the ground due to the massive development agenda taking place in all the Ten Provinces without leaving anyone behind. This explains why the ruling PF party has been winning and will continue winning elections in Zambia, and not vote buying as alleged by the said CSOs who are known to be ardent critics of government.

We are alive to the fact that the said consortium of Civil Society Organizations criticize government on anything and everything that government does or says.

Further, the calls by the said Civil Society Organizations to have the Zambia Police Service Inspector General Kakoma Kanganja step down are misplaced, unfounded and based on malice and ill-will.

It is abundantly clear, that the Electoral Commission of Zambia conducts transparent, free and fair elections.

We advise the said consortium of Civil Society Organizations to be sober when dealing with National issues and not push selfish political agenda meant to derail the good governance of this country.

We urge the Zambian people not to entertain the rantings of the said consortium of Civil Society Organizations, some of whom are known to be hostile to government and have been pushing for regime change.
