The Zambian DNA congratulates the governing PF for scooping almost all the seats in the recently held by-elections that took in various parts of the country.
Indeed, this illustrates that the governing PF remains a party of choice. This confirms that the people of Zambia want the PF to continue running the affairs of the nation. The robust infrastructure development rolled out in various parts of the country demonstrates why the Zambian people still have confidence in President Lungu and the PF.
We congratulate the Zambians for exercising their rights to vote. However, we are concerned at the low voter turn out. We hope that steps will be taken to encourage more people to participate in the next elections.
We also commend all the political parties that took part in the elections. This illustrates and indicates how big our democracy is in Africa. We are second to non as far as democratic governance is concerned.
We are also elated that the Electoral Commission of Zambia(ECZ) has continued to conduct transperant, free and fair elections. However, we condemn in the strongest terms the pockets of violence that irrupted in some parts of the country for example Looma ward of Nalikwanda in Western Province. We encourage our people to vote, to engage in constructive discussions about elections but not to engage in political violence.
