East Coast Cattle Fever Kills Over 60 Animals In Shibuyunji

East Coast fever, a disease of cattle, has broken out in Shibuyunji District of Central Province killing over 60 animals.

Shibuyunji District Livestock and Fisheries Coordinator Richard Makanda disclosed this to ZANIS.

Mr. Makanda says the deadly cattle disease, which also attacks goats, is at 96 percent prevalence rate.

He states that the outbreak is therefore a danger to livestock in the District.

Mr. Makanda has advised farmers in Shibuyunji to spray and deep their animals to avoid further spread of the disease.

He says the Department of Livestock and Fisheries in Shibuyunji District is however on the ground sensitizing farmers on how to prevent their animals from being wiped outC
