I have a passion for the media industry, says as he becomes the first blind person to be enrolled in the School of Humanity of Bachelor of Mass Communication And Goodwill Ambassador for persons living with disability Elijah Ngwale has appealed to Government, business houses and well wishers to financially assist Mr Chansa who has been admitted to the University of Zambia(UNZA) school of humanities in Mass Communication 2019 intake.
This is the first time that UNZA has admitted a blind student in the school of Mass Communication.
This follows a letter authored by my Ngwale, asking the Vice Chancellor to enroll Mr Chanda at the highest institute in the Mass Commucation course.
“In humility, I Elijah Ngwale Goodwill Ambassador write this letter to the Vice Chancellor, recommending Mukopa Boniface Chansa for the Academic year 2019. In the School of Humanity for Bachelor of MassCommunication.
In other words, I am exploring other possibility of Mr Mukopa Boniface Chansa to venture into the new area of study which is MassCommunication i.e Journalism,” read Mr Ngwale’s letter in parts.
The Vice Chancellor refered Mr Ngwale to the Deputy Registra Rodgers Phiri who admitted Chansa to the University.
“…Therefore, the University of Zambia wishes to inform you that the candidate’s application will be given special consideration for the 2019 academic year,” read Mr Phiri’s letter in part.
Mr Ngwale paid tribute to the University for the gesture.
He said the move was pleasing considering that it was the first time the highest learning institute has admitted a blind student in the Bachelor of Mass communication
“One behalf of Mr Mukopa and his family,I would like to thank the University for the gesture,” he said.
Mr Ngwale pleaded with the Government, business houses and well wishers to assist Chansa with financial assistance so that he can achieve his aspiration.
He said there are costs that come along the studying period but that they should not be an hindrance.
“I wish to call upon stakeholders to come forward and give financial support to Mr Chansa . There are costs that are needed to push Mr Mukopa’s aspirations. We thank GOD for giving him this great opportunity,” Mr Ngwale said.
And Mr Chansa said he was very humbled for being given an opportunity to study at the University.
He said that was dream come true because he has always wanted to become a Journalist
“Have always had a passion in Journalism so this is dream come true for me. As you have heard from Mr Ngwale, the blind have been confined to the education courses. This is great achievement and I am asking for financial from Government and will wishers as shape my destiny,” he said.
Mr Chansa’s mother, Mary Kabwe equally paid tribute to the University of Zambia for enrolling one of her five Children.
